As an Arab-American / African-American reading this thread of White males spewing hatred; I gotta say, it really helps me understand what drives "terrorists," gunmen, cop killers....

You guys should never have trouble understanding what motivates the lone gunman cop killer, or the terrorist who kills cartoonists.

As for the people throwing a hissy fit about the Taliban doing what they did, do understand that the US Armed Forces DO THE EXACT SAME SHIT, but you are told absolutely 0 of it.

But gour, getting upset because people are being called savages AFTER they murder a school full of children and set fire to the teacher in front of the kids is just unfair.

You realize that at least one of the people calling them not human is our own resident Blaximus?

It's not all whites hating. A good majority of it yes. But it doesn't necessarily make it racist because people are upset with religious extremists for doing inhumane acts.

But yes, there's plenty of racism in this thread.

I agree that the race card comes up way too much, but what the guy said was pretty much textbook. He wasn't calling terrorists savages. He said he doesn't like Iraqis, Afghanis, and other whole nationalities of people.

I'm a white male, and I hate the Paris terrorists, Syrian terrorists, terrorists in the French government, the U.S. government, all of them. What color they are or where they came from matters nothing to me.

I'm a bit confused by the intent of this post. A person who is capable of walking into an office and killing unarmed cartoonists at work isn't acting with any sense of rational purpose.

People spewing hate on an Internet forum hardly justifies killing a random police officer sitting in a patrol car. And to be honest, the biggest issue I have with your post is putting the term terrorist in quotation marks, as if the term is somehow misleading or improperly applied.

Look, people have said stupid shit on here. But no one on this forum has walked into a school and set a teacher on fire in front of their students. And frankly, if some guy in Iraq read a Jigo post, became infuriated, and murdered his neighbors, I don't think you could rationally ascribe blame to Jigo.

Yes, the conversation can be divisive and lack perspective, but just because the debate can fall well short of being healthy and insightful is hardly some sort of vindication for people acting without a very fundamental sense of human right or compassion.

My neighbors are from Iraq by the way, and the father even flew to New York for some election about a year ago. But he doesn't sympathize or try to understand the Isis movement or radical acts of extreme religion, and while I haven't asked him his thoughts on Charlie, I doubt he'd take the stance that those Frenchmen had it coming to them.

Often you use your debating prowess to shine a light or bring much needed perspective to a hive mind mentality, but this post really irked me. You are better than this.

Gour, I'm a white guy. I make horribly insensitive racist and sexist jokes. I grew up in a poor black neighborhood, I've been to war, and I've been ordered to commit acts similar to the Taliban did that is causing such outrage in this thread.

You know who the most racist people I've ever been around were?

People of Middle Eastern descent.

That includes those I met overseas, those I went to war with, and those I've met in just every day situations.

EVERYONE IS INHERENTLY RACIST.

The people who are upset by racism the most tend to be the most racist.

Incidentally, regarding the racial hot button issues lately, the government is loving it, and in the case of murderous cops, putting that narrative out there their through the state run media.

If they can keep the fires of hatred for Muslims going, they don't have to worry about any push back from the sheep when they want to start a new war and/or occupation over there.

And understand, I make the distinction between ISIS and Arabs; but there are several posts in this thread that don't. Nuke them all, and naming off Arab nations and talking about how you can't wait to go kill some is racist as fuck.

I'm not Asian... And the degree to which I have caucasian ancestry is a subject of genealogical research (my mother just published a peer reviewed book regarding our family tree; we're related to some famous Native Americans and White folks).

But for the break down, I'm 50% Egyptian, Native American, Black and White. The White is English and Scottish, the Black is West African (as best we know) slave descendant potentially from the Ivory Coast - but they were initially sold in the 1600s in the Carolinas. My Egyptian family extends from Algeria, Egypt, Tunisia, and Morocco. We've married into families from Syria, Palestine, Jordan, and Iraq. My brother is half-Libyan.

I think you misunderstand me.

First, Iraqis, Kuwaitis and Afghan are not a race. In fact, scratch Kuwaitis because we rarely dealt with any true Kuwaitis. They are many different races.

Second, my opinion of those folks are based on daily interactions with them and, no, I did not particularly like many of the ones I dealt with. For personal and professional reasons. Until you have been there, in that time and place, I would say that your opinion is ill-informed. You can dislike people without hating their "race." I didn't dislike them because they are Arab, Pashtun, Uzbecki, Persian etc., etc. I disliked some because they were dishonest and venal. If you have been there, then we have a disagreement of opinion. Then again, as an American occupier, they probably didn't like me either.

And ISIS is a bunch of savages. I have seen first hand what those types of people are capable. They gleefully murder children. So, I stand by it. They are savages, barbarians and warrant extermination. Whether they be Arab, Pashtun, French, Austrian or Tunisian; once they raised the black standard they were marked for death.

That reference is to our governments use of "terrorism" for any excuse whatsoever to subvert freedom including the right to live in peace without your neighbors looking at you as though you were strapped with an explosive.

I'm sure this post irked you, but a post in here by Marcus (a guy I respect very much) actually made me think "wtf.." It referred to "bleeding heart liberals" with disdain because they oppose torture.. TORTURE...

Think about what's saying? Who is being unethical in this position?

Am I for teachers getting set on fire? No. But what I don't understand is how the existence of Islamic extremism should rationally lead to us as a nation killing innocent civilians.
