The Jonas V thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
For me as a Lithuanian, it would be so cool to witness the Cavs choosing Domas Sabonis, the youngest and most promising son of Arvydas Sabonis, as well as the No.1 Lithuanian prospect aged 18 and under. He's now 17 years old and somewhere between 6'10-6'11 and playing in Euroleague and Spanish league with grown men (albeit very limited minutes). Maybe by the time he's in the draft, Grant is out and Big Z is the GM, lol.

I have nothing against Jonas as a player. Quite the opposite, would've loved to have him as "Mini-Z" but it wasn't in the cards. And I really loved having Z on the team. As a whole, I'm a big supporter of the basketball community and I'm really sorry that Z couldn't enter the Olympics.

(If it sounds like I'm trying to suck up, I'm not; that's how much I like the country's prospects and their fans)

Either way, while it would be nice to get a good prospect that Z can nurture, we just don't have much going on. Donatas sounds like an interesting prospect, but at this point we just need a center so we can remove the mental hold Jonas has put most of us into. I really do think we can get somebody since we naturally need someone at the position. It's a wait and see direction.

Hope Jonas continues to improve in the meantime (but like most Cavs fans, hopefully not TOO much better than Tristan).

I always loved Sabonis: too bad he didn't come over before he blew out his knees. Never saw Bill Walton play but Sabonis was the best passing C I've ever seen

You keep calling him that. It's Masai. Masai Ujiri.

This was of crucial importance to this thread.

One of those instances where it just FEELS better to call him Masaj (like Massage).

Rolls off the fingertips better. Masaj it is.

Sabonis' son. Sure. Sign me up yesterday. I just want a center.

Can't believe everyone is still biting on that. There has to be a scouting report on him already.

Stop trolling, Rich

Fuck the stats. I'd honestly still rather have Jonas on this team than TT to be honest.

I'm satisfied with TT's development though. I just think Jonas fills a bigger need and has a higher ceiling.

Once we get a guy that's 7 feet, and might have some touch around the basket, and can properly protect the rim (and on the side can hit a jumper), then the Jonas talk will end. I have no doubt that Grant is planning the fill that hole with someone 100 times better than Clark.

fuck...which stats? they are in favor of jonas almost across the board.

oh, while being a year younger and with half as much nba experience, too.

Nah, this year the stats favor TT slightly. Or at least the stats I'm looking at.

Still rather have Jonas though.

What do Detroit and Toronto have in common?

They both have starting centers that automatically improve the team dramatically... by sitting down.

And yet, neither Toronto and Detroit would swap their bigs for Dion or TT.

who cares who would swap whom. its an empty statement that means nothing and is speculative at best.

One things for sure you can certainly say the Cavs didnt want either one of those guys because they passed on both of them.

Also Jenning/Waiters/Singler/smith/monroe would be a much beter lineup than what they are starting now.

And i dont believe plugging JV into the Cavs lineup gives them any more wins this season or going forward.

The need for a big whether Jonas or Drummond will become accentuated when all these young centers and those coming in start to develop. We will be hard pressed to find that big just like what happened in the Orlando series.
