The Official Game of Thrones [A Song of Ice and Fire] Thread (includes spoilers)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Agreed on Littlefinger. He is playing everyone. I think it's safe to say though that he means no harm to Sansa. Everything is just a big power play for him, but who he is actually backing- if anyone- is a mystery. That said, I could see him joining Stannis. Stannis is hardass but all he asks is that you bend the knee to him. He's not Targaryen crazy just killing people for shits and giggles. Though, Littlefinger is tired of bending the knee. I really think he has some epic master plan for the whole damn thing (The Iron Throne). Will be interesting to follow.

Tommen made the right play there, actually. He only had a couple knights that I saw, nothing he could do. I find the Faith to be annoying as fuck and I'm rooting for anyone opposing them, to be honest. Looks like that storyline is aligning heavily with the books once again, though (with Loras included this time, which is a nice change). Only a matter of time before it backfires on Cersei, and I can't wait to see it despite me disliking the Faith Militant overall.

As for the northern stuff, man, what crazy departures from the books. Final scene wasn't shocking but it was definitely uncomfortable. Looking forward to what is to come with Theon and presumably Sansa (instead of Jeyne) though.

edit: In case anyone was interested, they pretty much confirmed that Littlefinger in the show does not know about Ramsay and his ignorance a couple episodes ago was not feigned.

Bronn got cut by one of the Sand Snakes's daggers. What was it he said about the snake in Episode 4? A shit way to die. Death by poison for Bronn. Damn...

Also, that entire battle scene in the gardens was ridiculous. Just everything about it. Sand Snakes are garbage. But, they genuinely got my heart racing when Areo rolled up with his axe and Jaime didn't put down his sword...when he swung his axe at Jamie I about had a heart attack. Subtle troll job by D&D against book readers. (Like having Sansa get raped was not enough...)

Trust me, my heart stopped for a minute.

But then I knew this was Ser Jaime Lannister and he would not die this day.

And all was well.

Bronn will be fine, too. Easily one of the most liked characters. He isn't going to go out like a little bitch, poisoned by a Sand Snake. God, they are beyond bad. Painful to watch.

Hall of Faces was fantastic. Looks exactly like I pictured it. And I love the way they score those scenes in the House of Black and White. Sounds like a medival Metroid.

My god, the Dorne stuff is so stupid. I was mostly alright with it in the books, but always felt shoehorned in. But these Sand Snakes are beyond cheesy. I almost wish they had just left them out. At this point, this is basically the equivalent of Arianne and Arys Oakheart getting busted by Areo Hotah, right? So do they just treat Jamie like Balon Swann and scheme in back rooms while he's there? I just don't know how they are gonna give that story the weight it needs.

Sansa's wedding scene in the godswood was gorgeous. What a haunting setting. Shot beautifully.

Curious to see how people react to the end scene. Because while that scene was really disturbing, it was three times as disturbing in the books.

Book was worse, but it was a character we didn't care much about. Everything is more disturbing on screen. Especially since we've watched Sansa/Sophie Turner not grow up, but at least mature over the last 5 years. A lot of people still think of her as a young teenager when she's really a young woman now. Definitely added to the creep out factor and made what was an uncomfortable scene even more unsettling.

Yeah, they effed up Dorne big time. Arianne would have helped, and casting girls that can actually fight would have REALLY helped. The corniest part of the show since Daenerys in season 2.

Liked Arya's stuff. KL and Jorah/Tyrion too. Ben cameo!... I mean Adebisi from Oz cameo. Sansa scene just doesn't sit well with me at all... Mainly because none if that happens to her in ASOIAF. I get it, but it made me uncomfortable. Very powerful keeping the camera on Theon's face, though.

I certainly understand that. I'm just a little surprised people are so outraged over it on Twitter and the like.

I mean, for one, yes of COURSE it's a horrible thing. It's a world full of horrible, atrocious things. That was the point when Martin wrote it, and it remains the point on the show. I have just seen some people outraged because it was Sansa. Well, isn't the same thing that happened to her here the same thing that happened to Danaerys in the pilot? Just find it weird for some to be upset with what (to me) is the wrong reason. As if it's only tragic when it happens to someone you're emotionally invested in. *shrugs*

Remember that your average viewer is a Stark family fan through and through.

Oh for sure I completely understand that. And I totally get being outraged that a character you love had something horrible happen to them. I mean, that was the Red Wedding and the dozens of other horrifying things that have happened to these characters all over again. I'm more surprised at the people mad at HBO and the writers as if how could they show something so horrible on a show about horrible thing after horrible thing. Confusing to me.

People will always find a reason to be offended.

You could put a rape on pay-per-view, and you'd find that 2 million of the paying viewers were outraged, despite knowing exactly what it was going to be. It's the pathetic world in which we live.

Within book fandom, Sansa Stark has a particular group of fans who view her as the ultimate proto-feminist hero. It's a truly odd thing, but they go completely apeshit at perceived slights to her by other fans, or in this case, by the show writers. They've been around at the Westeros site and its predecessors for over 15 years, and they've just gotten worse over time.

So honestly, if that bunch of gits is particularly offended by this, I give the writers bonus points, because they're generally insufferable.

I missed seeing Mr. Snow this week, anyways...

It's only a matter of time until grayscale is a wide epidemic, especially if thet fight the man.

I still think Sansa has something up her sleeve to take back Winterfell.

I would also like to see the old lady beat the shit out of queen mother.

I never found Jon's decision to foresake his vows and rescue fake Arya to he very convincing. But with actual Sansa replacing fake Arya, and keeping (though toning down) the wedding night scene, it makes it seem more plausible to me. I could actually imagine viewers hoping that Jon does abandon his vows at this point, if/when that point comes.
