The Official Game of Thrones [A Song of Ice and Fire] Thread (includes spoilers)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Just had time to sit back and listen to the entire season eight soundtrack. Fuck guys, Ramin Djawadi is so damn good.

Listen to this.. RIGHT NOW, I don't care if you're working, driving, taking care of your kids.. fuck that and listen to this:

- The Iron Throne
- The Night King
- The Rains of Castamere
- Farewell
- The Last of the Starks
- A Song of Ice and Fire
- Jenny of Oldstones
- Nothing Else Matters
- Arrival at Winterfell
- The Bells
- The Last War

And those are just the truly elite standouts. Didn't hear a single song on that soundtrack that I won't end up listening to a few hundred times over the rest of my life.

Holy shit.

The Night King, Nothing Else Matters and The Bells are absolute masterpieces of music.

I don't think I'm ever gonna be over Kinvara and Varys.

That was a show fucking only scene. There is no Kinvara in the books. No one ever tells Varys they know what he heard in the flames and who spoke.

Fuck these two clowns forever.

Yeah, what was the point of even having her show up and say that stuff? Could've easily summoned some random red priestess, have her still be weird and mysterious, and just leave that stuff with Varys out.

Think that was just a lead in to the idea that the council would choose a king going forward, rather than it be hereditary. Didn't think they specifically chose him BECAUSE he couldn't.

That's my whole point though. They chose him because Tyrion convinced them all he was the right choice. The same Tyrion that admits almost all his decisions have been a disaster.

And they act like no one else even registers as an ideal candidate? Sansa, Arya, or even Davos?

Are the Lord's just a bunch of idiots?

Well, you know my theory.

They sorta didn't know how they wanted to end the show until like..really fucking late. And just...dropped a whole bunch of shit along the way.

But yes, that scene served no purpose at all. Neither did Tyrion's scene in s5 where he looked the one red priestess in the eye.

Obviously there's a story Martin is gonna tell about the Red Priests that D&D like half-flirted with and then gave up on.

And amazingly enough, if Daenerys goes evil, I expect the Red Priests to be a major reason why. Bennerro praises her like a god in the books and Kinvara talked about her being the Chosen to use her fire to cleanse the world of non-believers. THATS how I see a heel-turn working for her. She's told she's god's chosen one and slowly starts to believe it.

EDIT: Now this would obviously fly in the face of Jon then being brought back by R'Hllor to kill Daenerys but...just trying to make sense of their decisions.

Now that Sansa runs the North, first order of business better be trotting out and flogging that traitorous weasel, Lord Glover. I'm actually bummed that it didn't happen during that final Stark montage.

Of course I dunno why Glover can't just declare independence, since apparently the standard now is denying independence makes you a tyrant.

Both of these guys look like dudes I saw at a dorky "bachelor party" @The Oi was at. They were both wearing crewneck Michigan sweatshirts and pleated khakis and watched Indiana Jones movies with @The Oi instead of partying and having fun.

If I were King, I would redefine the Night Watch's mission thusly:

1) Determine if the WW are all dead. We presume that the Night King created all the Others, but no one knows that for sure perhaps. Little is known about them, even the Super Tree Raven doesn't know 100% of what happened. The NW will find out.

2) North of the Wall is still not part of the Seven Kingdoms. It is still necessary to maintain a border and customs zone.

3) Whereas the Free Folk are free, they will still have conflicts over political matters. As the Wildlings re-settle the North, and as they consolidate themselves into permanent settlements, they will likely have disputes. The Nights Watch can serve as an impartial and neutral party in settling disputes and in policing the area. Like UN Peacekeepers or US Marshals. With the permission the Wildlings of course.

4) Whereas the Free Folk are free, the establishment of relations now means that the Wildlings are within the Seven Kingdoms' orbit and will become important trade partners as well as potential sources of military man-power and intelligence. It is in the 7K's interests to help develop the far North and their people. The Night's Watch can be the link between the Wildlings and 7K's and act as the administrative mechanism with which to accomplish the aforementioned policy goals.

Not sure there truly was still a Night's Watch? Because it was all Wildlings.

And it looked to me like Jon was going beyond the wall to live with the Wildlings.

He was abandoning his suppose new bullshit Night's Watch post.

Bran knew this. Greyworm didn't, because he doesn't know shit.

And was doing Jon a favor. Looked to me he and Ghost were going back to the true North. Beyond the wall to live. Where he said Ghost belongs. Where Tormund belongs. And where Jon belongs.

Hence why I think he got a pretty happy ending.

I think you said you didn't watch the show, and if you didn't, the impact of what the song means and all of that is probably a bit lost on you, no offense.

He's just trolling you. Don't waste time with the responses.

There is no Seven Kingdoms. There is a Six Kingdoms, and then an independent Kingdom in the North. The Kingdom in the North borders the Wall and wildings, but the border of the Six Kingdoms is nearly a thousand miles away from the Wall.

Colloquial.

Moreover, everything South of the Wall is known as the Seven Kingdoms which is still a correct term as a geographic expression.

And the NW answers to Kings Landing, and not Winterfell.

I don't see why they just don't name Bran Emperor and let the rest of the Kingdoms choose their own kings under a Federal framework a la The German Empire.

Sure there can be a Night's Watch.

Different mission, different personnel, but it can inherit the Charter and the name and lands that go with it.

King Tree, in agreement with Queen Lemon Cake, can simply give them a new mission.

Like my list of four new things to do while freezing one's balls off.

It's like how knights in the UK don't don armor, cross the channel and kill the French. Institutions can change with the times.

So Jon did become King after all. Maybe not in technical terms, but he clearly was their leader. The way it was shot was pretty clear.

I actually like Jon ruling the Wildlings and found it really fitting. The way they welcomed him, it was as if they were waiting and welcoming their King's arrival.

Being King of the True North. So Jon was not being shitted on being dealt back to the Night's Watch. He was being led back to lead his people.

After all, he saved The Wildlings and became one of them. It was a nice touch.

Still doesn't take away from my overall disappointment of this episode and series.
