Trade Deadline ––> Waiver/Buyout Deadline 2015 (March 1)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
we're de deadline thread is only 2 pages with 5 days until the deadline. Shows how far we've come :chuckle:

So proud of myself because I didn't even know what day it was this year for the first time in awhile.
It's because we have little assets that we're willing to trade. We used to talk about getting all-stars, draft picks, assets, etc., during the trade deadline. We've blown most of our load, and all we can afford now are bench players.

Shut up and work your magic

Although I was originally against the Cavs signing Ray Allen at first, I am starting to think it might make sense. With as badly as Marion has been playing lately, Allen and Shumpert could be the wings off the bench. Now they can trade for Nelson to take the back up PG minutes, and sign a big that gets bought out to complete the rotation. This would require the Cavs to release somebody unless they trade two for Nelson which may happen anyway. Now Delly would be the 11th man as opposed to the 8th man, and they would almost never have to play Marion, Miller, and Jones (whichever of the three is still in the team).

I definitly think backup big is the key as of now, honestly, I would be totally fine with signing Dally if for the 10 minutes that he is in, we run the 2-3 zone that we do when we go small, actually I would be ok with running a 3-2 and forcing people to not shoot threes and have dally contesting. I have a feeling we will trade Haywood, harris for Jameer and sign Dally. Allen would work, but I just dont know how we could get all three.

I don't see how we couldn't. You get Jameer from Denver for Haywood/Harris. That clears a roster space, so now you have two open spots.

Then sign Dalembert and Allen.

I'm not saying this is the ideal solution, but I think it's definitely realistic.

I'd rather have Garnett or Stoudamire at the big spot. I know LeBron and KG have had their differences in the past, but Allen would make a pretty good buffer.

I think the cavs wait to see how the All Star break goes and see who is bought out. If Amare does get bought out he would be a great big, sign Allen, then you dangle Haywood and Joe for a PG

Our trade deadline was a month ago. Vet buyouts and Ray Allen are the options, take em or leave em.

If they sign Allen, they really have no need for Delly as an off the ball PG where he is a safer option than a true PG. If that is the case, I could see them trading Harris and Haywood for Nelson provided Nelson is healthy.

So many people want to trade Joe Harris.
We are a very old team on the bench. Perhaps we should keep a guy who is actually under 30 we could turn into a good spot up shooter on a cheap contract we control. He has actually looked decent in limited time since he has gotten time in the D league. Lets not just throw the guy away in a Haywood deal for a guy who may not even be an upgrade over Deli.

Think we need a big an don't understand why we haven't been using 10 day contracts for tryouts for a big or serviceable players big or not. At this point I would like to see a trade like Miller and Haywood for Hickson and a second round pick.
Give tryouts to Farmer, Moultrie, and others if needed.
The trade allow TT to move to backup PF. Hickson although no true rim protector has put up good numbers when given PT in Denver and LBJ seamed to work well with JJ.

Cavs are in a win-now mode. Not sure they can wait a few years for Harris to develop. Allen's contract will be cheap. If they can trade Miller or Jones, I'm all for it, but it will probably take Harris.

Cavs should try to trade for a young backup center that's under the radar like Jeff Withey from the Pelicans. Get him while his value is still low. A straight up swap with Joe Harris would work salary wise. He averaged 4 blocks per game in college. Jeff would be perfect for us.
