The Lakers can't deal their first round pick this year. So yeah, they have nothing to offer. I would love to hear Flip's reaction.

They could do a pick swap, which would still be pretty valuable. The problem is that, if you're the Timberwolves, there's no way you make that trade right now. You can't do it without knowing where the pick falls in the draft considering the Lakers have basically nothing else of value to offer. If you get the number one pick and nothing else for Love, fair trade, as this draft gets you a shot at another franchise guy. If you get the fourth or fifth pick and nothing else, that's probably a terrible trade unless you really hit a home run in the lottery, and thus far Flip Saunders hasn't proven he can even pick guys that belong in the NBA in the draft, let alone finding a diamond with the fourth or fifth.

I know enough about trades that when names are brought up, it may not matter what team is attached to them in the rumor... If a guy is on the block, they're being shopped many places.

what can we give for Barnes? Assuming they want Jack, but he is not enough to pry HB from GS.

I've been a big supporter of Barnes on here but after watching him at all star weekend I'm having some second thoughts about his game

Took a benadryl an hour ago. Out of bed for the fourth time... Welcome to the trade deadline.

Try children's liquid benadryl. Works faster and is by far more effective for sedative purposes.

Certainly Barnes game is not fully developed and there are some generally rumored attitude issues --- but, I'm curious. What did you see in his performance this weekend that gave you pause? He scored 16, and had a Plus 10.

No reason not to test the market for Deng.

I would expect to get a good return, more than Jack, for Deng.

People might not like this, but you can't let him walk away for nothing this summer. Sign and trades are going to go extinct in the new CBA, so it's now or never.

The problem is that your desperate GM already set the market for him a month ago. If we could get a 1st with similar protection to Sacto's (and expirings), he should take it.

I'm really hoping that they can get Barnes...I've always liked him and I feel that he would be a great piece to grow with our young team. Even if they offered say, Deng straight up for Barnes, do you think GS says no? I know they would have to worry about re-signing him, so maybe find a separate deal to work Jack in there as well?

I'm hoping that they at least make a minor move. Get Jack out of here and I will be happy.

Well, Deng for Barnes straight up does not work. But, two separate deals might...net result, Deng and Jack, for Barnes, D Lee, and J O'Neal (expiring). Your reaction to this pivots on how much you value D Lee, and if you can clear the resulting logjam at 4/5

Wuck with the avy change. Has it failed yet?

Is it that we can only do a 1 for 1 trade with Deng, or that we cannot trade anyone WITH him on our side?

Because Deng makes 14mil and Barnes makes like 2-3mil. So it would need to be some kind of 3-team trade where GB dumps a high salary somewhere else.

Our best best for Barnes is Jack, but they would still need to add a player like Speights to the deal for the salaries to match.

Why cant they let him walk? His expiring contract is the most valuable thing about him.
