Tressel knew of gear scheme last April

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Tress said he didn't act on the emails because of confidentiality concerns, but answered a reporter that he forwarded the emails before Smith jumped in and broke up the questioning. That part didn't sound so good for OSU.

The whole confidentiality thing needs squashed. A federal agent isn't going to e-mail a 3rd party that isn't involved wahtsoever with the on-going investigation and have any reasonable expectation of confidentiality. That just isn't how things are done. For anyone who cares, here is a site with the 1st e-mail. http://www.sportsbybrooks.com/documents-read-the-actual-jim-tressel-emails-29547

Sorry, that's not, in anyway, cooperating with an on-going investigation that would require confidentiality.

EDIT: Sorry, didn't see the posts with the e-mails published. Ignore the link.

My Dad? Are you serious? Get off my balls, asshole. Get a damn grip. Let's face the facts: no matter how this story manifested, you had chosen your side, and it wasn't Tressel's. I'll be surprised if anybody here disagrees with me. That's not to say he didn't make a mistake, but he was told by a FEDERAL FUCKING INVESTIGATOR to keep it confidential. I bet he was confused and scared- like he said- for his athletes, and for what the right thing to do was. Whether that was going to somebody and interfering with a federal investigation, I don't know. We don't have all the details. Do I think he committed an unforgivable crime? Fuck no. If you do, you need your head checked.

Watch your mouth.

Watch your mouth.

You still have yet to even talk about how Tressel lied....

He didn't lie...at all.

You seem to have this vendetta against him....For the life of me I can't understand why.

How about you show respect to a senior member of this website?

No? I thought we already discussed this throughout this thread? Some of us agree that Tressel sat at that presser last December and knew that OSU was saying they JUST FOUND out about this one or so weeks before. If you say Tressel didn't lie, then fine. I say he did. So do others. He allowed OSU to claim they found out in December when he knew that was false.

I'm done with this thread. Too much spin and BS for me.

Everything Tress said was talking in circles like he said he wouldn't....

Tress was going to try and slide this under the rug as long as the investigation didn't give names of his kids(outside of the two known), it wasn't until the names of the kids came out, in December would be my guess, when the investigation came to an end that he was forced to say something because the final federal report would be given. Once the final report was made public it would only be matter of time before the rest of the world knew Ohio State kids were involved with this. He was going to play dumb as long as he could until he was ratted out by someone he probably pissed off somewhere along the way. Serves him right because honestly this all could have been avoided if he would have reported the incident immediately. He could have turned the two in immediately, my guess it was Pryor and Herron/Posey so he didn't want to lose them, with that said they probably would have only missed 1-2 games and tress wouldn't have missed any.

I assume when the guy e-mailing tress said confidential he meant not telling the players or any coaches and so on, I highly doubt tress misunderstood confidential for not to tell anyone, not a school lawyer, the president or AD. The disappointing thing is that this all could have been squashed immediately but instead its blown up into a huge ordeal and a really bad black eye on the program. It makes the program look even worse for allowing the suspended kids to play in the bowl game.

I know you posted thisbefore the e-mails were able to be read, but just from a procedure standpoint and the wording of those e-mails, it seems almost certain that those were not sent by a federal investigator. At least not one who was actually working on the case.

Do you have a quote to back that up?

Awesome summary of the Vest's press conference:

Summary: you see, it was an accidental lie because I was unclear on procedure, you know, that pesky confidentiality thing, which by the way involved a drug trafficking case, and yeah I just dropped that in the middle of this, and even though everyone concerned was fine regarding this drug trafficking case and oh did one of our PR people just pass out back there oh my someone get Dana some water and see if she's alright, okay?

Anyway, where was I, oh, I was all freaked out over this confidentiality agreement, and I wasn't really quite sure what I should say about anything after that and didn't know who to go to, because you know it's really tricky to figure out which lawyer to talk to, and I really wasn't quite sure what I could say and was scared because I dunno, the government has police, and maybe the NCAA has police, too, but you know if they did I bet they'd shoot at Ohio State and hit Youngstown State, and that would be a shame because those people are fine people and we had a great time there and I wouldn't want to hurt anyone metaphorically.

Could someone check on Dana? I think she's flat on the floor back there.

So I know I can talk in circles, but hopefully I've managed to clear this up here. in summary: confidentiality, drug trafficking, something about not being totally clear in my understanding of which lawyers to talk to, and then we resolved this with a sock puppet meeting with human resources, and overall I'm disappointed, but can I fit a recruiting pitch in here my mentioning how we're like family and I thought I was doing the right thing? I can?

Done, and done, and Bruce Pearl? You have just watched how a master shows the world his dick and calls it a magical salamander. Step your game up, He-bro.

I haven't followed this situation that closely so I have one question. I understand that Tressel withheld information regarding the 6 kids selling their gear. My question is how are the drug trafficking case and these 6 guys selling their gear connected? Was the guy from the tatoo parlor involved in the drug raid or something? It's a little confusing to me. If someone could explain that wold be great!

Thanks!

It appears that he withheld information that two of his players' names had come up in a federal drug investigation involving the tattoo from OSU. He was given this information in perceived confidentiality from some mysterious attorney. He claimed, that out of fear for his player's safety, and not knowing who to report this information to, he sat on this information.

That's what I interpreted. This is still somewhat confusing....

Thanks blue post. It is confusing. I emailed the same question to the really big show hoping they would answer my question so I have antother. If 2 of the 6 kids were involved in this drug case and tressel knew about the gear thing then why didn't he come forward? How are the 2 connected since he was concerned with the players safety?

Listening to the Really Big Show right now and can't stand Goldhammer right now. They are talking to LeCharles Bently right now and he completely called out Aoor on the air and it was great! Still would like my questions answered as to how the drug case and the players selling their gear are connected...
