Tressel knew of gear scheme last April

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If you say Tressel didn't lie, then fine. I say he did. So do others. He allowed OSU to claim they found out in December when he knew that was false.

I'm done with this thread. Too much spin and BS for me.

According to OSU's letter to the NCAA, when Tressel was “informally questioned” by institutional officials on Dec. 16, he replied “that while he had received a tip about general rumors pertaining to certain players, that information had not been specific, and it pertained to their off-field choices.”

Doesn't look like he lied to me....

As big of an OSU homer as I am, it is hard to defend Tressel and the Bucks right now. Tressel clearly knew of this months ago and didn't fess up. The sad part is that OSU will probably have their 2010 season vacated. It was pretty needless too. All he had to do was divulge what he knew and they would've been fine. It's not about the transgression with the NCAA. It's about the cover-up.

I could be wrong about this since this whole thing has been pretty confusing but it seems as though the stuff that was sold championship rings and such ended up in the hands of the guy or was in the house when this drug traffiking raid happened. This led to the emails that Tressel got from the mystery man letting him know about what had happened which at this time looks like the emails that he apparently sat on and didn't say anything about. Again I have no idea if this is really the series of events that happened but thats what I am geting from the incidents so far. I mean he could have talked to the OSU provided lawyers im sure and with the confidentiality they provide they could have told him what to do next without him endangering the federal investigation and all of this would have disappeared at least on his side of things. IF Tressel did just sit on the emails and didn't let a single person know I could see this as something that the NCAA might not take to lightly, rightly or not.

Yeah, that's what doesn't make sense to me. Everyone knows that a lawyer's communication with a client is privileged. So, he could've gotten advice from an attorney and acted accordingly. But, for him to sit on it was a shocking lack of judgment IMO. Tressel has been a coach for a long time and should've and needed to know and do better. This isn't the first time that OSU has had issues either. The Clarett business and the Troy Smith business are well documented. I just think OSU has gotten off light so far and the NCAA will be under extreme pressure to drop the hammer on them. I'm thinking that the 2010 season will be vacated.

Listening to the Really Big Show right now and can't stand Goldhammer right now. They are talking to LeCharles Bently right now and he completely called out Aoor on the air and it was great! Still would like my questions answered as to how the drug case and the players selling their gear are connected...

From what I understand the only connection released thus far is that there was an ongoing federal drug trafficking case involving this Eddie Rife character(the owner of the tattoo parlor). During this investigation they found tons of Ohio State football memorabilia at his house and the parlor and the players were exchanging them for tattoos and discounts. The "attorney" was telling tress that they found all this stuff and outlining what kind of person Eddie Rife was and how the kids should be very cautious about who they are around and "friends" with and to cherish their awards and so on. There's rumors of some of the kids running drugs with him but that remains unfounded at this point.

Ahh. Jim rome had one of the reporters that broke the story with yahoo. He said that the Feds were investigating that Eddie guy for drugs and when they raided his house when they were looking for drugs they found a bunch of ohio state gear sold by the kids. Makes sense now. I thought that the players were like dealing drugs or something.

Roda said yesterday that they are interviewing dan wetzal today around 3:15 or so.

Just hope that it's just Roda in studio by himself. If Reghi is there, he'll just talk over Wetzel and interject his opinion as fact and get zero information from his guest.

Just read that one of the writers of the Tressel story (Charles Robinson) said on a radio show today that there are two more major stories he's working on. One should drop in the next few weeks and the other should drop in August. He said on a scale of 1-10 relative to what the Tress story was (an 8), the story to break in a few weeks is about a 6 or 7 and the one to drop in August will be a 10.

lol @ referring to a story he is going to break in AUGUST. 5 months from now. What a clown.

The 'Deuce' I am researching right now May or May not be a 10 in august when I drop it..
Let the speculation begin about this "Major story"(Read bowel movement)

Hopefully the one in August is uncovering the Cam Newton saga. I really want to see ESPN spin it as hard as humanly possible.

Change your name to Homer.

He lied and every school that's a major school cheats. I don't care what people say. The joke of it all is people are naive enough to think the college game is purer then the pros, when in reality it's about at the same level.

Starting to think the pros are purer. LOL.

Change your name to Optimist.

At this point, im not sure what you are trying to argue.

For those who care Dan Wetzal will be on with reghi and roda in about 5 minutes...if you guys want I can type up a summary of the interview for those who can't listen.
