Tristan Thompson

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I posted this damn near one year ago and it still holds true...

I just got an unsolicited email from a source most of us respect... He cautioned us to pump the brakes a bit on any of the rumors/stories we're hearing from Mr. Kotoch.

If you look at the Cavs roster. Thompson would be mthe most likely starter to be traded and AV has been on the trade block for years. Naturally if the Cavs traded for forward or cent those guys are most likely to be involved.
posting it givs you a chance to look good if it happens and play it off as they just couldnt get it done if it doesnt.

Just like with everyone else on the roster. Im going to assume Thompson is there next season until a trade actually happens.

TT almost seems like he is an Andy in training. He specializes in things Andy does very well (offensive rebounding, hustle), but he still lacks other things that Andy is great at (defensive principles).

No matter what happens this off season, I hope we can keep at least one of them. Hey, maybe Griffin can negotiate a very team friendly contract for TT? It is not like we want to get rid of him, its just that we anticipate that he will demand a lot more money that I think he would deserve at this point in time. I guess the question then becomes what would we be willing to offer TT without it becoming a bad decision? 8 million a year? 10 million a year?

I want Andy to retire as a cavalier too. Not sure how realistic that may be at this point though.

Yeah, I would love to see Andy retire a Cav, but if we do trade him, I just hope it's somewhere with legit title aspirations. I'd almost give him to OKC as a thank you for all he's done for the Cavs, haha.

Tristan would be cool to keep if he agrees to JJ Hickson type money, like 5-6 million/yr range. Anything more than that would be way too much in my mind. The fact that he(or his agent) thinks he should get Derrick Favors money is ludicrous, so that's why I'm all for dropping him to anyone willing to take him. He's just shown no improvement, except for his free throw percentage going up a bit.

Isn't Kotoch the guy who told everyone we were picking Len?

Happy Draft Day! Tonight when David Stern approaches the podium and is booed by the crowd at the Barclays Center at his final NBA Draft, we will finally have our answers.

In the meantime, Alex Len remains on top of our Final Mock as sources in Cleveland have emphatically stated the 7-footer from Maryland is on top of the Cavs’ draft board.

While Cleveland has settled on Len if they keep the pick....

ahh, yep.

I'll be pissed if AV gets moved. TT I really don't care though, because after this season, Andy will get minimum-midlevel type money and TT is going to expect a big pay day...

Apparently, TT is looking for a contract extension like Favors got.

One thing that Thompson will never have that Varejao does is that vision. Varejao is an absolutely elite passer for a big man. Varejao also has a much, much higher basketball IQ. He basically always makes the right basketball play, and rarely forces anything, which is something Thompson does all the time.

I like Thompson. He's a hard worker and he seems like a good kid. That said, comparing him to Varejao is unfair. Players very rarely just develop elite court vision. Thompson will never be a guy that moves the ball like Varejao can.

Honestly, I dont blame TT or Rich Paul

But I WOULD point out very clearly that the dummy who took him #4 overall is no longer making decisions like those for an NBA Franchise. So... I would adjust my expectations accordingly. Hopefully that will not be Griffin having to tell them this information, but some other GM who we sold TT to instead.

Kotoch is the source so it's probably not true. also even if it is true, good luck getting that type of money TT. Kahn is no longer a GM so there's no team in the league crazy enough to offer that type of deal. it has been discussed here before but Favors plays a position that's much tougher to fill and he's also a better defensive player than TT, Kotoch probably just looked up his numbers, thought they are somewhat comparable and threw this out there...

Brian Windhorst first reported that he wants a Derrick Favors contract a couple months ago after speaking with his agent. He also said there's no way TT is willing to take 6-7 million/yr.
