Tristan Thompson

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Worth is all relative.....that's what no one is acknowledging. Tristan plays on a team devoid of front court depth. He's the only PF or C on the roster ( with a pulse) who is younger than 26.

Do I think he's "worth" 12-14 million a year? No but what are our other options? Honestly.....what is plan B in a scenario where he walks? To get even older up front?

Unfortunately you're sometimes a victim of circumstance, which drives up the price. Worth to your current team and worth on the open market are not always the same thing.

What I like about him is that he plays hard and can play with everyone. Obviously someone who can shoot is better, but he doesnt have to be matched with a specific guy.

He had looked basically the same in every lineup, and yeah he has had a few bad games but he has been very consistent for a young player.

Although the converse of that is because he has a limited skill set he forces the others to play to his strengths. So an interesting thing to watch is how other play when hes out there. I think so far his lineups are some of our best.

Hats off to him for his reliability huge testament to his conditioning and work ethic.

Tristan had a good game yesterday. I'll give it to him. He played about as well as he possibly could have considering his limitations versus a much taller and athletic Jordan. He got stuffed a few times (of course), but he actually finished pretty well around the basket overall and battled the best he could despite his size difference.

Still sort of concerning how helpless we felt at times under the basket, even with Mozgov. I feel like Jordan and Blake could have dunked on us every time. Then again, we were facing freaks of nature and probably the two most athletic bigs in the game.

Actually just once.

Wouldn't have a problem with it if we didn't just sign Varejao to a 10mil/year contract extension. Then take into account Shumpert's pending freee agency, Mozgov the year after...after this TT extension all of our money is just gone. Can't add any more impact players, and we're essentially saying this is the core we're gonna have to run with for the next 3 years.

He's a restricted free agent. Let another team throw an offer sheet at him first, then decide if he's worth it to match.

I hope he's still working on his jumper. He should try restricting his efforts to one location (for ex. like Haslem, baseline only).

Just took a look at current league leader stats: http://www.basketball-reference.com/leagues/NBA_2015_leaders.html

TT is on several Top-20 lists:

Field Goal Pct: 12. Tristan Thompson .536
Offensive Rating: 14. Tristan Thompson 119.8
Offensive Rebounds: 4. Tristan Thompson 160
Offensive Rebound Pct: 3. Tristan Thompson 15.2
Total Rebounds: 15. Tristan Thompson 341

With the exception of Love who currently ranks 6th in Total Rebounds (415), there are no other CAVS represented in these categories.

TT is having a really good year, and how other teams value this production is going to be interesting.

Because do shots blocked even count as an attempted shot?

If so, he'd be shooting about 30%.

Blocked shots actually do count as missed field goals. So his FG% is even more impressive.

Yeah, they definitely count blocked shots as shot attempts. Getting blocked hasn't been nearly the issue for Thompson this year as it has in years past.

if tristan thompson were like 2 inches taller, he'd be a max player

he works harder than anyone though, the perfect garbage man for our team
