Tristan Thompson

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
We don't have any first round picks for the next yr or so and we don't have assets to trade outside of the Trade Exemption we have that we would have to use drafts picks to package with and the whole league will have more money to spend next yr we aren't getting a third big as good as TT at his age.

That may be true, but he isn't worth half of what he wants. I have ZERO interest in bringing him back.

It already looks bad. The elephant in the room is that Tristan Thompson is signed with LeBron's agency. People can talk about how Rich Paul is this and that all they want but this is LeBron's gig.

I don't feel sorry for Gilbert's pockets, I feel sorry for the team and how it sort of puts a damper on any future wiggle room from an organizational standpoint. If we overpay for Thompson maybe that hinders another transaction in terms of needed depth we may or may not need to add throughout the course of a season.

It just doesn't seem right. I'd say let the guy walk but then you worry about LeBron's 2nd year player option. The team is between a rock and a hard place, don't step on the Kings toes or else...

If LBJ leaves again so be it...Gilbert has done more than enough...Moz is more important than Moz..I get what you're saying but screw this

Offer him 5/80 with performance incentives of up to 5/94. He gets the whole thing if his free throw percentage gets above 80% :chuckle:
I may be in the minority here, but I don't think you even give him the 5 years, 80 mil.

Give him the QO, let him hold out whatever. The poorer his behavior and performance, the more it will hut his value for 2016/2017.

Chris Haynes just said he knows that a few teams will give Tristan 4 years, 100 million. (said it on 92.3 the fan)

I say he's full of shit but what do i know lol.

At first, I was a bit worried over this. Now, to me, it seems like this is just public negotiations. Trying to drum up some drama for the sake of the contract.

im gonna repeat it, apparently we're at whatever the QO is, because RIch Paul felt it necessary to tweet that 'if were forced to sign this shit, were gone'.

perception is everything folks. Maybe its not on Paul this time

That makes sense, but if that's the case then I wonder if the Cavs are saying "well, we can't find a deal so why don't you take the QO and we'll see what your market value is when you're unrestricted" or if they have decided to take a hardline stance on the tax this year and want TT for as cheap as possible?

Option 2 seems a bit strange since the tax bill is already a hell out a lot less than we already thought it would be, so if it's option 1 then maybe today is just an attempt to get the Cavs back to the table or else.

Tristan is better than both.

Ed Davis got his pay day this summer. Reggie Evans isn't even signed to a team.

What makes you think the Cavs have the ability to sign a young championship quality big for cheap when they've never done it?
Let me ask you this...Who is more valuable to this team..Moz or Tristan..?

I think Tristan is because he can be used in any situation big or small. It's his versatility at being able to play big or small that is valuable.

I can't believe anyone wants to risk everything on Kevin Love's health again this year. yikes.

Tristan isn't worth the contract. I think he shoudl take the 80 M, but damn dumping an asset during LBJ's last years is so so short sighted.

Yup. Andy's extension doesn't look great at all. Contract turns into a valuable trade asset, though.

They need a true center, a small big that can switch on pick and rolls, and a big that can space the floor. They have all 3....they need all 3.

The elephant in the room is really Varejao's extension.

That TPE needs a sweetener which the Cavs don't have.

If you sign the QO you have to give consent to be traded and you lose your bird rights.
Please Tristan..we like you and respect you. We want you on this team but not on a max deal. Let me ask this of you. Log off, go watch game films of yourself and then watch the max players in this league..then look you self in the mirror and come back and tell us if you still deserve the max. And please don't do drug.

2 year from now....

And if the TPE isn't all that valuable now, as you have said before, then why would Andy's deal hold value when teams are even more flush with cash?

I'm just saying, if Gilbert has suddenly grown shy about spending money then Andy's deal is a big problem in the mean time.

We all know Haynes only contacts are out in Portland.

Yet, Portland didn't rush out to offer him a contract this year, and I can almost bet they won't rush out to offer him one next year either.
