Two high school football players intentionally hit ref

Right, "not until all humans are dead".. so.. stop pretending like the shit doesn't exist.

It exists moreso because people will not let it go, people are dumb, and the media says so.....not because everyone or even a majority of the population is racist.

This thread has made me realize I have been under-utilizing the word "cracker". I'm now going to start throwing it around here and there in conversations with my fellow white folk.

Cracka this! Cracka that! Can you lend a cracka a pencil?

On topic (kinda):

If someone is talking smack to me or those around me? More than likely let it slide from a physical stand point. I don't need to risk jail because some idiot ran his mouth and I'm secure enough to take an insult. Maybe it's years of working in customer service or doing stand up, but words just don't affect me as much anymore. However, in the context of a black person getting called a racial slur? I'm not going to get on a high horse and pretend I know the "right" way for that person to react. I'm a lower-middle class white dude from Ohio, how can I pretend to understand? And as someone who lived in a predominately black neighborhood in southern Maryland for a year of their life, yes I've been called cracker and honky.....and I still don't think I can really relate.

None of us have walked in any
shoes but our own, but if having done so is the criteria for coming up with basic societal rules of behavior, then we wouldn't have any at all.

I'm not being illogical.. Can you demonstrate how my argument is invalid?

Yes, that's right.. You think I don't realize what I'm saying?

Wtf??

Think about it.. You go to the club with your wife, she's dressed up nice and attracts attention. Some asshole is getting up in her face trying to spit game. You step in, and he gets to dogging you. You, being the passive Jedi, do nothing; but your wife starts dogging him.. He then gets to calling her a bitch, whore, slut, etc etc.. You then explain to her that he has a constitutional right and you guys leave...

Now, if that's how you handle it.. more power to you.. But it's not how I would handle it.

I understand what Gour is saying. Legal rights have nothing to do with it. If that guy is mouthing off (in Gour's scenario) there's a reasonable expectation he's going to get his clock cleaned. There's also a reasonable expectation that the guy beating the shit out of him will face assault charges.

Now, personally? One situation ends up with me at home with my wife, and one situation ends up with me in jail possibly facing assault charges. I know which one I'm choosing.

Disagree.

Disagree.

Really? That's surprising to me. If I went around calling people racial epithets, I would absolutely prepare for someone trying to beat the hell out of me.

That doesn't mean either action is justified.

Experiment - take 100 people each ages 20-30 from different races. Ask them if they would respond with violence if they were called a racial slur by someone walking by them from another race. Mix and match the race of the guy walking buy saying racist remark. Guy that is using racial slur is also in his mid 20's and you're by yourself.

Do it.

I'm too tired to try to figure out what you're getting at, so I'm not even going to bother.

All I'm saying is if you want to call someone a racial slur, you shouldn't act shocked if they respond by attempting to punch you in the face.

Maybe my original post is being misconstrued because you're using the legal definition of reasonable expectation, I don't know. That was not the case.
