Two high school football players intentionally hit ref

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Jose Sucio.

I feel a lot less bad for the ref knowing that's one of the kids that knocked him down.

Travis Junior brought the heat.

Still not taking responsibility for their actions. Still blaming other people for a decision they made. But, now, it is even worse. An unnamed "player" told them the coach told them to do it. An unnamed "player" told them the ref called one of the other "players" a N*****. Basically, their defense is all hearsay evidence, and it sounds rehearsed. They sound like some Espin sports reporter with an unnamed source.

Yep......and I just wanna scalp that little fruitcake, too.

I figured I would post this in here. What are your thoughts on this? Apparently, this kid is claiming that his opponent used a racial slur.

Doesn't look like anything worth discussing before, during, or after the game.

Shit happens on the field.

Have you seen something like that before? I've never seen someone rip off an opponents helmet and then hit him with it.

Yeah, I've seen much worse. He takes the guys helmet off and hits him with it. Guy doesn't look like he's crippled or even badly hurt. I'm not sure what there is to talk about.

It's OK, though, because he called him a word.

It's OK because shit happens on the football field. Guy got popped. So what? Let the school, team, handle the situation accordingly.

Welp...

Assistant coach instructed these students to hit the ref. The coach says he did it out of anger over racial slurs and missed calls.

Hell these kids might deserve detention or a couple days suspension at the most.

So you have a violent game, racial slurs (still hearsay at this point) and a superior telling them to retaliate.

I guess I just didn't want to believe that high school football players would conspire between themselves to hit an official and actually do it. It seems that I don't have to now.

Now that coach could be taking the fall for these students but I doubt it.

That's just weird. The coach's statement is bizarre, and inexcusable, but still kind of ambiguous. I'll bet he was almost as shocked as everyone else that the "retaliation" was as violent and obvious as it was. Still an asshole move that should lead to him being fired, though I don't think his statement is clear enough to prosecute.

What's weird is that you had a coach who was a big enough ass to say why he said, and two meatheads who were dumb/violent enough to actually do what they did. A perfect storm of dumbassery.

Still, it's a blatant criminal assault, so they should throw whatever books they can at the three of them.

High school football, Texas, teenagers, during a football game...

I'm not surprised they listened to their coach. Coaches can damn near be parents to these students. You do what you're told especially during the game. Who's to say the coach didn't target these two specific players because he knew he could get them to do it. This is adults fucking up and dragging two high schoolers into it.

I wouldn't charge them with anything. Just the coach.

Mandatory haircut for my man tho.

So if their parents had told them to go beat the fuck out of someone, and they did it, they should be excused? That's kind of a frightening thought.

These weren't little kids - at least one of them was 17, which is old enough to be held accountable for his actions.

Beat the fuck out of someone vs. A hit that the kid let up on with pads on?

I think those are very different.

Theses coaches are here to mold these kids into good people. These kids were suspended and forced to go to another school. That's enough for them in my eyes

Running these kids through the system for this coaches mistake is pretty fucking stupid if you ask me. Just my opinion.

Yes other people's children probably have a better moral compass or a better sense of right and wrong. But again that shouldn't be an issue here because as a coach you should be doing the opposite of what this coach did. Go deck him yourself.

Also interested to see if the coach actually heard these slurs or was told by his players.
