Two high school football players intentionally hit ref

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Well I think that creates the parallel needed to compare the two.

Vick went to Prison for his crimes and Cooper missed some games I believe. Both were absolutely reprehensible acts. I believe Cooper said in a drunken rage at a concert " I'll kill all you niggers"...Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Steelers fans should be outraged if Cooper is ever considered. Do you think they would be to the point 20000 signatures on a petition on the day he was signed?

You could easily make an argument why this man should trust no white man given his actual experiences.

Sure you could. It would just be a racist argument.

A piece of legislation doesn't change what this country did to him or what it was about. If he wants to call somebody a cracks ass cracka, fuckin deal with it.

Oh. So white people who weren't even born during the Jim Crow area still "did stuff" to him? The 200+million white people he's never met - includimg all those that weren't even born by the time he was fifty - are all responsible for what other white people did to him?

That's racist no matter how you spin it. As for "dealing with it", I've never seen the guy so that's not an issue. I'm simply pointing him out as a racist.

It's moreso ignorance....and racism should be lumped into that category.

He said that he "would fight every n here."

Question: can a racist change? Can they become un-racist? I guess I don't agree that steelers fans should be outraged if Cooper is considered. I think what Cooper said was racist, and I also think that people can change or be forgiven.

Edit: To be clear, if one wants to be forever outraged at Riley Cooper, they are welcome to maintain that anger. It's not my place to tell them that they should get over it. I think there will be outraged Steeler fans and non-outraged Steeler fans, and I personally don't think they should be collectively outraged.

Anyone can change or be forgiven; but forgiveness is a personal thing - one individuals make for themselves. What he said, in public, shouldn't automatically be forgiven. Why would it?

There's no place for him in the NFL.. but to @Tlyons 's point; less people will care, and for obvious reasons.

Why should he, a 78 year old black man ever trust a race of people who told him he was subhuman? Am I missing something here?

I'm just saying he was given a reason to hate. I can say that about no white people.

I guess Vick couldn't change. I'm sure it's only about the dogs.

You mean like the Polish, Irish, and Italian immigrants that experienced racism for years? Or they don't count because it was racism disguised as nationalism?

Yeah, you're missing the fact that a "race of people" didn't tell him he was subhuman. Just like a race of people didn't shoot those two cops in New York, and just how we don't and shouldn't blame a race of people for chanting "pigs in a blanlet, fry 'em like bacon."

You know - judging people by the content of their character, not by the color of their skin?

Lumping Klan members in with white civil rights marchers together in the "race of people who told him he was subhuman" is about as racist as it gets.

I can say that about no white people.

Right. Because no white person has ever been attacked or abused by someone black because of their race....

So just hit the ignore button on black history til Feb.

Cool.

Held back for 400 years and expected to assimilate completely as a "community" in 60 (And you're offended by the thought of Affirmative Action...lol).

It's everybody's problem guys, not just black people. Your personal experience does not explain what is going on with all black people.

See ya in a different thread.

I don't deny my violent aggressive tendencies. I do deny allowing them to control my response to every situation.

To be fair, I'm an equal opportunity asshole that doesn't stop at racial comments.

Young guy gets killed by a drunk driver while riding his motorcycle. Becomes mass outpouring of support, drunk driving campaigns etc. Father of young guy and his friends create a yearly benefit at the skate park for him.

Father of young guy condemns all drunk drivers, constantly posts about it on FB, talks about in public, etc.

Father of young guy had 3 DUIs before 1990, and one more since his kid got killed by a drunk driver.

I send him the keychain breathalyzer tests every year on the anniversary of his son's death.

I don't like hypocrites.

What a tool... James Short was a great guy and they're doing very good things in his memory. This definitely tells me a lot about you. Human garbage stuff there.

Never said James wasn't a good guy.

The same can't be said for people involved with it.

Cooper can change but Vick apparently is out to strangle everyone's dog. According to 20000 shitsburgians. Well potentially since Cooper signing with the steelers is hypothetical.

Wait...the ref had a fucking ponytail?
