Urban Meyer hired by OSU

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Urban Meyer Just Asked Live About OSU

dude, woah wait a second.. I only saw the foruth quarter and I was watching the ufc at the same time, but he was like 7/12... 70 yards or something... without that last play, there are no stats.. I did see him juiking around a lot, which is awesome but..

He put the team on his back and literally won the game for us. When a guy throws 12 times, what does that tell you? You don't even need to have watched the game to tell Fickell engineered his game plan- unsurprisingly- towards running the ball. :chuckles: If that didn't tip you off, you could look at Boom Herron's huge chunk of yardage (like 170 yards if I recall) he gained during the game. Or Braxton Miller's own 100 yards, which included a 44 yard touchdown that SHOULD have iced the game for the Buckeyes but didn't, thanks to the defense. Quite frankly, I find it a little ridiculous that I have to sit here and justify Miller's fantastic game to someone on here when any college football fan can watch the fourth quarter (thus see how he won the game for Ohio State) and glance at the box score and make a few conclusions.

Oh, by the way, his receivers looked really really bad for the most part during this game. But you weren't watching, so ... ;)

Guy is a true freshman, and he's going to be really fucking good. The haters already look like morons, and they will continue to look even worse as time goes on.

Re: Urban Meyer Just Asked Live About OSU

god shut up. people so condescending over the goddamned internet. youre calling him a superstar on a sample size of 12 passes, thats ludicrous.

get your personal life in order so you dont take it out on strangers on a sports board not even dedicated to the one youre tlaking about.

Re: Urban Meyer Just Asked Live About OSU

While Fickell was put in an impossible situation this year, his coaching job last night (and really during the last two weeks) was incredible.

Braxton Miller is a completely different player than the one who was on the field against Miami.

The team just looked like the knew they were going to win. Even when Wisky scored late, it answered right back with a great kickoff return and later the TD.

For all his faults, Fickell did an A+ job getting the job done over the open week.

He'll step aside for Urban Meyer at the end of the season (probably before the bowl game), but he earned my respect with last night's performance.

Re: Urban Meyer Just Asked Live About OSU

Adolphus Washington and his teammate Dwayne Stanford will be announcing for OSU on the 6th.

Washington is a huge get, could be an immediate player at defensive end. Stanford is a bit raw, but you can't teach 6'4 200 with good hands.

I read they pushed back their announcements to the 19th so that Stanford can visit Oregon. Regardless, they'll both be Buckeyes and will certainly be Fickell's two biggest commits since he took over the reigns.

Yeah! You told me!

Quit crying and get over it. If you can't handle talking sports on the Interwebz, don't do it. I'm just glad Miller is proving sports-challenged individuals- like yourself- incorrect as he improves, gets better, and is now winning games for the Buckeyes.

As a freshman. You know, when most of QBs in college don't even see the field let alone lead their teams to huge wins?

But this concept is a bit much for you. I apologize. :chuckles: I forgot I was talking to the legendary davek905.

Re: Urban Meyer Just Asked Live About OSU

For people talking about how many times Braxton threw the ball: look up how many times a game Terrelle Pryor threw the ball his freshman year and then get back to me.

Don't you fucking know anything?

Miller is a bust.

Re: Urban Meyer Just Asked Live About OSU

Miller looked more confident last night. His throws were tight spirals or at least that much closer to it than the wobbles he was throwing a few weeks ago.

He didn't throw the ball a ton last night but he showed me he can throw some accurate darts. I think he's going go continue to grow this year and set us up nicely next year to really do some damage.

You've already said you watched 1/4th of the game. Your credibility is a bit ruined. He only threw 12 times, yes, but his passes were crisp - easily the best I've seen from him this year. He had at least one drop (Stoneburner) that I vividly remember, and another one that could have been ruled a drop. We dominated the first half of the game in every aspect but scoring, but you didn't see that. When you come on here drawing stupid conclusions based on a small sample size of viewing, expect people to blow you off.

Also, he never said Braxton IS a superstar. He said he will be, that's quite different. What I see from Braxton reminds me a lot of early Troy Smith. A guy with amazing vision as a ball carrier and the shiftiness to avoid tackles and make something happen. His passing is still raw, but he threw the ball extremely well last night. The kid is 18 years old, but he's already shown an ability to move the ball at the college level. With the growth of receivers like Brown (Soph), Smith (Fresh), Fields (Soph), and Reed (Fresh), this team is going to be very, very good the next 2-3 years. We'll need to rebuild the O-Line, but that's rarely an issue at tOSU. The future is bright, folks.

Troy Smith is exactly what I was going to say but held back a bit.

Re: Urban Meyer Just Asked Live About OSU

Braxton is ahead of where Smith was at this stage.

Way ahead.

Hell, Smith was returning kicks against Wisky as a red-shirt freshman. The game Lee Evans crushed them with that huge TD down the sideline (against Chris Gamble I believe).

Some people just don't understand how huge the development gap is when these kids are 18 until they're a junior or senior.

Of course. Troy didn't even play until he was a RS Soph, but I'm judging Brax against that. He's a full two years ahead of Troy if you wanna go on development as related to age. Brax is 18y3m old. Troy was 20y3m old when he started to play in fall 2004.

Re: Urban Meyer Just Asked Live About OSU

Braxton Miller did what he did last night in an offense run by Jim freaking Bollman. Imagine what he could do in an Urban Meyer offense
