Defense.

Larry Hughes is the ideal SG we need right now, except for that Jumper.

A tough nosed defender is just what we need.

You're serious??!? Are you serious?

The guy is dead weight man.. and he's a drain on the team. He's just another role player trying to patch a million holes in a formerly sinking ship.

Mo Williams is the first ray of light we've had because he brings a fresh and new perspective to the Cavs. Picking up another bum role player at the 2 is a major step backward, especially considering Cleveland is in a position to sign a max contract this year on top of LeBron James. It's the primary reason I'm starting to think LeBron WILL stay in Cleveland, because we're so set to get drastically better right before the deadline and in the off-season.

If we make the right moves THIS year, we'll be the best team in the NBA next year. Laura Hughes is not one of those moves.

Not that I think we should trade Wally for Larry but does nobody else actually think Larry is a step up from Wally? Still if the Bulls are in a tight situation come the deadline why not trade ES and Pavs for him, that way we still have Wally who everyone is so concerned about trading.

Larry is not a step up because of his bad attitude. That alone takes away wins from the team. A bench player content playing his role and willing to do anything the coach asks is better than a mal content. In the end, I rather have wally and his knees be to slow on defense and get abused, but have him try and in almost tears working out the for the fans, than watch Larry hughes sit for 25 games with hemroids of the mouth or have to get his head surgically removed from his anus, or some other assiniging problem. Then, when Larry does play, he wont do what the coach asks, even though he is perfectly physically capable....but no problem his girlfriend agent retard will defend him in the press. You see, Larry just wants to have fun. Well gess what, he got a 60 freaking million dollar contract, thats fun. I wish I got to have that type of fun. I have seen how many stripper whores your contract has bought you. No go out, shut your freaking anal leaking pie hole and play the game the coach wants or give back the money, retire and play ball at the YMCA with all the other wannabe's. Is that enough fun for you...you excuse of a basketball player Larry. People like him dont deserve their phyiscal gifts!

Ok...rant over...and to sum it up...no I take Wally and his expering contract any day of the week. Not even a question.

Guess again. Larry stinks like pooo-pooo when it comes to playing basketball. Besides, ZooLander is better.

Besides we dont want a Larry to lay more bricks in Cleveland.

I'd do it, but only because The Cavs need a shooting guard right now, and Larry fits perfectly with Mike Brown's system. No this isn't because hes my favorite player, however, most of you will view it that way.

Adding Hughes to the team would improve us defensively, and some offensively. However, Larry's offensive game has fallen since he left Washington. Main reason is because hes not slashing anymore. He was a decent shooter, now hes a horrible one. He just don't like to take contact I guess. But even though some fans will bitch about it, who can blame him? Hes been getting hurt left and right whenever he drives. He added muscle the past off season before we started camp, but it just wasn't enough, I guess.

Larry makes sense to deal for, but of course it wont happen. Not that Larry would want to return here either, especially the way he got booed by the fans(Not saying it didn't deserve it...). I agree with a post before, Wally's contract will be worth a lot more down the line this season, and we could possibly find a better fit for us. Maybe even a Micheal Redd, Vince Carter, etc.

But if Hughes had a limited role in the offense, and he "accepted" that role... And you still didn't want him back(All hate aside), your crazy. Hughes' defense would be a huge welcome sign. But all well, it wont happen.. Nor would Ferry even think about it.

As I said in the original post... it was an idea that popped into my head, and I posted it as-is.

After thinking about it a little more, I think that Eric and Sasha for Larry is a better deal, and we'd still get a couple 2nd rounders or possibly a 1st rounder.

Those of you who think Larry Hughes is not a good player are beyond belief. Yeah, Larry had problems here... yeah, he complained. But why? He didn't like playing the point because he felt it was not a strength of his. What happens when a person convinces himself that he cannot (or don't want to) do something? They usually don't do it well...even if all signs point otherwise, as-was the case with Larry.

Furthermore, Larry would not sit on our bench. He is far superior to any 2-guard we have. He may not be the best shooter, but he never was... nor did he ever claim to be. What he did do well, was defend better than any player we've had in Cleveland since the late 90's.

If you guys think Boobie would be matched-up well with Mo and LeBron, then Imagine Larry at the two. Ignore his past with us, and look at the big picture:

Mo brings the ball up-court... he is defended because teams cannot leave him alone. Larry streaks up one wing, with LeBron streaking-up the other wing.

Larry cannot shoot long-balls, but he had a high fg% inside 18 feet. If he's streaking to the right circle, while LeBron is streaking to the left; Mo coming-up the middle; we have a million options:

Pass to LeBron= defensive shift & Double team = Larry steak to hoop, or Pick for Z, or lebron drives and dishes to Mo or Larry, who can either drive and dish or pick and pop with either Z or Mo... Andy/Ben stays in paint for rebound or dunk.

With West... we can do that too... But he is not the defensive presence that Larry is. Boobie isn't even fractionaly close, Wally isn't either.

If we could get Larry back here for Sasha and Eric... then I say we keep Wally as the back-up SF, and look at our depth with him:

PG: Williams/West/Boobie/Kinsley
SG: Larry/Boobie/West/Wally/Kinsley
SF: LeBron/Wally/Larry (small line-up)/Kinsley(small line-up)/DuPree
PF: Ben/Andy/JJ/Darnell/LeBron (Small Line-up)/Wally/DuPree (both small line-ups)
C: Zydrunas/Andy/JJ/Lorenzen

Larry would be able to switch defensively for really good PG's, allowing Mo to defend a lesser 2-guard. He'd also be able to take defensive assignments for LeBron, allowing LeBron to stay fresher.

And for a defensive line-up:

PG: Delonte
SG: Larry
SF: LeBron
PF: Ben
C: Either Z or Andy

For a fast offensive line-up:

PG: Mo
SG: Boobie or Delonte
SF: Larry
PF: LeBron
C: JJ

For a tough, slug-fest line-up:

PG: Delonte
SG: Wally
SF: LeBron
PF: Ben or Andy
C: Z or Andy

And look at the regular second unit:

PG: Delonte
SG: Boobie
SF: Wally
PF: Andy
C: JJ
(that's damn near as good as a starting line-up)

Larry would give us a lot of options, and wouldnt be the problem he was on offense before, because he wouldn't be the #2 man anymore... or even the #3 man. He wouldn't be asked to score anymore... before we wanted him to be someone he wasn't. Now, he could just do what he does best... play lock-down defense, and score points w/o having plays run for him.

People that dont want Larry just because he did bad as a #2... that is silly. A true Cavalier fan would see the obvious plus in this deal. Not only do we upgrade... we get pick(s?), and another expiring contract...and we have the option of actually keeping Wally if he does well, and re-signing him to a reasonable deal next year.

Lot of inter-changable players with Larry on the court.

And... even if he got hurt.... and missed 50 games... Would it matter? All we'd really be missing is Sasha, who is likely to sit most of the year anyway.

TL;DR zzzzzzz.....

I still want to slice your ass into 16 parts for suggesting in taking back a guy who'd rather have fun over winning the ship. Yeah, pay me a million dollars so I can screw you over at least I'm having fun.

Anybody who actually thinks Larry would come back here and play hard is out of touch with reality. This guy isn't about winning.

I bet you'll be suffering all day today from last night's bender that generated that incoherent rant.

If you'd have spent the same 20 minutes that it took to make this post....I dunno, say...volunteering at a homeless shelter...you'd have found someone who could contribute more to the Cavs than Larry Hughes.

:chuckles:

I wasnt drunk, I dont drink anymore, and it wasnt that late here, I live in phoenix, currently on pacific time. Years of frustrating watching and listening to larry hughes is responsible for the rant.

Larry's perfect situation for him, is to be with a team that plays like Golden State. I think he'd rejuvenate his career in that type system.

Larry Hughes is not a good player anymore. Period.
