with Washington playing so badly right now and they are beenching atwan and heywood and all kinds of crazy stuff what about this trade

Drew Gooden
Sasha Pavlovic
Ira Newble

for

Etan Thomas
Jared Jeffries

this gives us the Interior defense (and he is an excellent rebounder) we so badly need and a good young Jeffries player who can play D and fill the hole for Larry for a couple weeks

What do yall think???

We ahould consider Chucky Atkins if anybody, from the Wizards. And definitely not give up Gooden for him.

At this point, I would rather look into trades with Portland. Teflair is not starting anymore as Blake has surpassed him. Jarret Jack is on the back burner. We should try to nab Jarret, he seems very talented. We might have to see if he's worth Luke Jackson...

Or we can try to go for Duhon, but that seems unlikely.

We don't need a backup big... our interior defense has not been that bad lately, as Z's rotations have improved.

We got burned by Lamar Odom.. yea. But he's more perimeter oriented with a few post moves. It was more his perimeter play that dominated our big men.

fair enough i was just bored and thought about how some teams who are doing really bad may consider a trade....washington, orlando and the portland idea you brought up is a great idea

Portland has PG's out the ass....

I love the way Blake is playing... Why FERRY, WHY !!!!!!!!!!!

With Luke being from Oregon, i'm sure they would love to add the local flavor..But, they do have 2 or 3 young SG's...Investing a lottery pick in Martell Webster would give him the nod at some point, I would imagine... So I don't know actually how much Luke would interest them ?

And I don't know if I would be quick to move Luke (like i've been saying since the summer :chuckles: )

Personally, I wish Mike Brown would implement a play or two on offense that would mesh with Luke's game... I would like to see some screens being set for Luke to come off from the low post, alot like Michael Redd and Rip Hamilton...

If you have shooters, you might as well use them the right way...

Has anyone bothered to mention how good Drew has been playing? Good D, good rebounding, and dare I say it smart offense - i'm not sure we want to get rid of this guy.

Pioneer 10, you silly rabbit, when will you learn? Everyone on this board hates Gooden. His double-doubles are a farce, of course, and cooked by the league. His consistent jumper from about 10 ft. out on the wing is a joke. After all, he only shot 7 for 11 in the Lakers games - you know, 15 pts, 11 rebounds (which is TERRIBLE) - and pulled down the rebound after Lebron's missed free throw. Damn him for being a little inconsistent while our starting backcourt shows up with about 10 pts./game since Larry's been out. (This is of course Drew's fault.) He totally sucks and we should trade him for a bag of chips and a Quizno's sub. Or a power forward who's better. Let's see, who can we realistically get? Lemme just dial Chris Webber on my cell. I've got Timmy's digits around here somewhere....

I'm not saying he's an AI-type ANSWER. But he's criminally underrated on this board. Pioneer 10, if I may put words in your mouth, you're not the only one who thinks so.

Different boards have different heroes and goats. I post on another board where everybody hates Snow. This one does have its share of Gooden haters. I'm with Coyote and Pioneer on this one. I think Gooden's a good player. He takes undue heat for his defensive lapses, which is pretty hard to understand on a team that has only two good defenders.

I never liked Gooden until I saw him play regularly with the Cavs. I remember posting here when he was acquired that he was a poor-man's Chris Gatling, not even a pale substitute for Boozer. But then he rolled out a season when he double-doubled almost half the time (admittedly with a few bonehead plays here and there). And what's not to like this season? He's taken a reduced role offensively in stride, without pouting like everybody said he would. He's playing better defense, he's the team's best rebounder by a long shot, and he plays an efficient game offensively.

We should be thanking our stars we got him to replace Boozer. That said, I'd trade him in a second for a good point guard.

Gooden is sure a headache for my team. I've offered up Mo Williams for Gooden in the past. I'd still make that trade.

I do not dislike Gooden, or take him for granted. I just believe he isn't a great fit here. Our core is James, Hughes and Ilgauskas for the next four years with the rest coming and going. You need to compliment these guys. Drew is doing his best job to be this guy, but he never will. This is not disrespecting him. Drew has had a solid season. His efforts are generally high in energy and he played within himself offensively for the greater good of the team. For that I respect him. Does he have a future here? I really doubt that.

No one dislikes Drew - we just do not want to be left with nothing. He WILL leave this offseason. Let's face it - we will not win the Championship this year....so why keep him? Is he that piece that could get us to the promised land? No - get the best value we can for him, and build for a championship.

HELL NO give up ar best defender in newble who kept kobe in check, and drew double double gooden lol hell no...

I am with karma on this one. I am a drew defender, but he is the player on this team we could most easily replace and at the same time get the most for. He has been playing very well, but we do not use all that he is. He has an offensive skill set we are ignoring at the moment. A power PF rebounder/enforcer in the paint is all we really need and we may already have that in Henderson/AV. The problem the team is facing is that we need a point guard that can defend quick guards, and pressure the other team enough to open up the rest of the court for lebron, larry (when he returns) Z and Marshall. We also need a wide body center to put in for Z when he gets tired or in fould trouble. I think that was one of the goals of the original thread.

My "no" response was more about Etan (looks like Ben Wallace, plays like Tinkerbell) than the general idea. Gooden is way more valuable than that. A gooden trade willl also help us to unload a contract since his real value is bigger than his contract.

I think Drew is 'stuck on stupid'

4 good games, followed by an average game, and 2 poor games... Then he will start that cycle again...

He is consistently inconsistent..

^ "The player on this team we could most easily replace"??? Sorry, I gotta disagree with you there, CR. I keep hearing this talk about replacing Gooden and building for the future, and I keep asking, "Replace him with who?" Toss out some names, y'all, of available PF's who have the offensive skills, the rebounding, the effort and loveable bone-headed plays we can all chuckle at over our Mickey's Big Mouths. If you can find a way to get us Al Jefferson, we can talk.

As much as I love what AV does, he doesn't bring much of an offensive game and, with that frame, will continue to get banged up by stronger men. Alan Henderson is playing his ideal role right now.
