Washington??

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
He is consistently inconsistent..

Isn't this statement oxymoronic?

I don't know if I'd mess with the chemistry we are building. The only type player I'd consider trading for is a point guard but if it isn't a Jason Terry type then I think I'd rather take a flyer in the draft at Marcus Williams from UConn even with all his baggage.

I agree with Coyote that we don't have a replacement combo that will be as good as Gooden, but I'd still trade him for a good point guard. We'd take a bit of a hit at the four spot with Marshall and Varejao and Henderson filling in, but that would be more than made up for by the huge gain we'd experience from having a decent point guard. I don't have a good feel for the ideal time to move Gooden, but much as I appreciate what he's done for the Cavs we need to upgrade our point guard situation more than anything else. Snow and Jones may be the worst point guard combo in the league.

I'm a Gooden fan also. His occasional lapses on defense sometimes get overblown. I'm not sure he's much worse than some other Cavs when it comes to that problem.

Gooden is the Cavs most tradeable commodity though. He does have value around the league and could be used to get the needed upgrade at PG. The Cavs do have depth at PF even if it would be somewhat of a dropoff from Gooden. PF's also seem to have quite a bit of success when playing next to Z.
There have been reports that Gooden might not be exactly what the Cavs braintrust is looking for in their PF either.

I have read this proposal on another board and think it could work for the Cavs. It would be more likely to happen next offseason in a sign and trade.

Drew Gooden and Damon Jones to Dallas for Jason Terry in a sign and trade.

Cavs get a PG who is a decent defender and brings more of a shooting/scoring threat at PG. I think Terry also could play well with LeBron and Hughes on the perimeter. If the Cavs can convince Terry to come here as a FA than Dallas would get good value in return for a player they would be losing anyway. It's usually very tough for the team losing the FA to get good value in return in a sign and trade deal.

Successful Scenario
Due to Cleveland, Washington, Chicago and New York being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Cleveland, Washington, Chicago and New York had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

we get rid of snow and his contract and we get the defense in the middle that we need (see suns killing us in the paint 2night) and we get a nice plaer in jefferies...but the big part is we get duhon who i think is a perfect fot for our team

Why is it that people here are pushing for a trade after every loss? How many teams would i have to list that were talent overloaded underachievers for people to realize that team success hinges on more than individual skill?

1. The athens bronze medal team
2. This years miami heat
3. The lakers team that included karl malone, GP, Shaq, Kobe etc...

If some of you guys were in charge of player personell for an NBA team you would be Isiah Thomas without the credentials as a player.

dude its a message board...it's not like anyone is making calls to danny ferry...chill out

lepip has gone from saying that gooden can never step up in a game, to saying that he is inconsistent.

if he waffles any more we're gonna have to slather him in syrup.

Mentioning his name only strokes the ego!

09orujghyngh7ski,

I never said (at least do not remember) that he never stepped up in a game....

I have always said he was inconsistent....

I also said he never brings it on the road.... He has of late... But prior to me saying that, he didn't...

In other words, I am right, the others are wrong..... I am not shocked by that outcome... I have only been wrong 3 1/2 times within my lifetime...

At this point, I would rather look into trades with Portland. Teflair is not starting anymore as Blake has surpassed him. Jarret Jack is on the back burner. We should try to nab Jarret, he seems very talented. We might have to see if he's worth Luke Jackson...

Interesting that you note Portland as a trade partner, because they haven't been mentioned at all in press rumor mongering, but, Campy, when I spoke to him last week, mentioned them as one of the more likely candidates ...but, Ruben Patterson would be paired with Dixon as the likely candidates coming, and Luke heading back home. But, it was just one of three possible scenariois that were mentioned without him knowing at all where Ferry's preferences ranked them ....but, the teams most talked about are Denver, Portland, and San Antonio....
