Why Larry Dolan Needs to Sell the Cleveland Indians

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Just thought I'd share...I sent what I wrote to Terry Pluto on Facebook and he responded:

"Good stuff here...I wrote a lot about the sale in Dealing...it's very hard to sell a team, took the Rangers and Dodgers 2 years."

Pretty cool to get a compliment from Mr. Pluto!:)

I get he grew up in det...But It's Time For The Dolans to put theyre money where theyre mouths are for once and spend a little might actually get some fans to go down to the park! O I forgot they dont care about that they are worried about starting off strong and falling off like every year! And O Can't Forget Fireworks night...Lol Promotions shouldnt be the only reason ppl wanna come to the park its a joke!

Answer me this:

If the Dolan's didn't care, why would they agree to move two prospects making minimum deals (around $400,000 each) for a guy with around $18 M left on his contract?

That's One Thing...And Even When They Care They Mess Up!

Who Had 18 Mill Left On His Contract?

Ubaldo Didn't have 18 mill remaining on his contract More like 7-10

I don't have it in front of me, you may be correct. It was at least $10 M. The question remains - why do you make that deal if you don't care?

That's My Exact Point And Thats Why I Think Everyones Upset With My Posts But Im So Pissed That We Made A Move Last Year To Try And Get Better And Then Did Nothing This Year! Makes That Deal Pointless Now! And His salary was 2.8 mill in 2011 and 4.2 this year and next year is an arbitration year! So We Prolly Took half of 2011 yrs conract...so id say 9-11 mill we took on...

Why Not Go After Greinke?

Because he wants to win and wants 17-20 million a year? What the fuck makes you think signing Greinke makes the indians that much better to justify massively over paying him? You're from the cleveland.com forums aren't you?

You didn't really answer my question. We're not debating the moves (or lack thereof). We're debating if he cares or not. You said Dolan doesn't care. If he doesn't care and is just in it for the money, why did he make a trade that added at least $10 M to his payroll?

2011: 2.8mm
2012: 4.2mm
2013: 5.75mm
2014: 8mm team option

The reason that trade was so great in theory is that they got a potential ace that was very affordable and under team control. We'll see what becomes of the trade, but in theory its a great trade for a small market team like the indians. No use talking baseball economics with a guy that thinks MLB2K12 coincides with real life.

Good point...And whats the cleveland.com forums?

He added 10 mill whats 10 mill...

I don't think Grienke will sign here, only because I expect LA to keep him. But he is the rare free agent who probably wouldn't want to go to a larger market. The Indians would be a perfect fit, but he seems due for a gigantic, long-term deal this summer.

$10 M is quite a bit to a small market team. No offense, but you're avoiding the question. If he doesn't care and he's just about the money, why not just stick with the cheap prospects? That's $10 M he could pocket otherwise.
