WOIO: Browns will take either Crabs or Sanchez

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'd go with Crabtree. The guy is so explossive and tough. I think if we can get him the ball, he could have the potential to put up Boldin type numbers. Also, Deion and Jerry Rice have raved about him and work with him on route running and training. I think those guys know how to judge talent better than any GM the Browns have ever had.

what in the world is the love affair with sanchez? He has bust written all over him. One of the measures of college QBs doing well in the NFL is 2 or more years experience starting, something sanchez doenst have. On top of that he was on a team that had 3 legitimate RBs to take the pressure off of him, something he will not have on the browns. Finally quinn has one thing above both DA and sanchez HE IS CHEAP. Sanchez at the number 5 spot is going to mean a hell of a cap hit for the browns. Even assuming they end up trading quinn then they have 2 QBs sitting on the team who take up HUGE sums of money.

Overall drafting sanchez just doesnt make sense for this team. There are MANY weaknesses this team has right now including RB, WR, G, LB, and DE that all rank ahead of QB why in the world would this team pass up all of that to draft another QB, it just doesnt make sense.

Edit: Additionally Quinn has two years experience learning an NFL system and at least limited game play, something that would take sanchez at least till the end of this year to learn (meaning another wasted year). So far he has a very limited chance to play, get comfortable, and really adjust to the NFL game. Give quinn a chance.

Well shit, there ya go. Just because you think he has "bust" written all over him means he's gonna be a bust. Give me a reason, a legit reason, why you think Sanchez will be a bust. 'Cause you really didn't give one up there ^
Conversely, give me one reason, just one, why you think Quinn is going to be awesome. And please, don't say because he had 2 years to sit and watch and 4 years of playing college football.

really damage you want to go through this? Its been broken down time and again that college QBs who start at least 2 years and have a high pass completion perception generally transition much better to the NFL than those that dont. Strictly playing the percentages Quinn stacks up better than Sanchez. Now you can argue that all you want but thats what research shows.

So right there you have a reason to expect more out of quinn than Sanchez. This doesnt even throw in that quinn has been learning for 2 years (something which apparently makes no difference all of a sudden).

Now finally contract something brady wins big over.. here is the break down of bradys contract numbers.

AT most brady's contract will only get up to 7 million dollars per year for his final 2 years and thats if he plays 70% of the snaps this year. Brady's contract was set up to be worth 20 million dollars over 5 years with and additional 10 million in possible incentives. these incentives came in the form of 5 million dollar bonuses paid his 4th and 5th year if he played either 55% of the snaps his first and second year or 70% of offensive snaps his third year. His contract had a little over 7 guaranteed in bonus, and another 13 spread out over the course of 5 years. So far brady has collected all of the bonuses with another 5+ million paid out over the first 2 years. this means means that there is 7+ million dollars worth of contract money left on quinns contract for the final 3 years. If you want to average that out (not total accurate but gives a pretty good picture of the situation) that means the final 3 years of this contract brady will be collecting 2.4 million a year. If he were to play 70% of the snaps this year his incentives would bump that number up to 7.4 million for the final 2 years. now that we have that out of the way...

last years number 3 pick Matt Ryan signed a 6 year guaranteed 35 million and with incentives up to 70 million. Meaning that at the number 5 pick Sanchez will probably have guaranteed and yearly contract numbers greater than anything quinn can ever get to. This doesnt even mention the fact that DA is collecting a cool 7 million for the next two years. Unless the new regime just totally dislikes quinn drafting sanchez doesnt really make any sense. Quinn hasnt even gotten a damn chance to play and already he is being counted out. Lets see what he can actually do before deciding to trade him so the browns can draft another quarterback.

Overall I have to think this is a smoke screen by the browns to get someone to trade up.

Never said sitting for 2 years makes no difference. I just don't throw all my eggs into that basket.

And their contracts are similar if you start Quinn and he hits his incentives, which he most likely will.

You know how much I like Quinn. And that article you posted has some merit to it. But a lot of those guys didn't have stud QB's starting ahead of them. In other words, it's quite difficult to crack the starting lineup when the QB's ahead of you happen to be All Pro's (Many thought Booty was gonna be great. He was ok, which is why Sanchez played half of the season. That and Booty's injury). Couch, Roethlisberger, Leftwich, Rivers, Culpepper, McNabb, Manning(s), all were given ample playing time because they had little competition to deal with. Sanchez didn't have that luxury. Just saying...

Either can i. I just want it to be over and stop hearing about what the Browns will do or draft.

Not me. This is the most exciting, optimistic time of the year for Browns fans. This is our Super Bowl, unfortunately.

I can't wait, i love watching the draft. I try to watch most of it or atleast the first 4 rounds...

I just posted this in another thread but it's more fitting here. According to ESPN radio Washigton is working hard to trade with KC so that they can select Sanchez before Seattle at 4 can draft him.

Stay tuned because Saturday is sure to be an interesting day!!!

Dream scenario here folks..

1.] Lions - Stafford
2.] Rams - Smith
3.] Chiefs - Monroe
4.] Whoever - Sanchez
5.] Browns - Aaron Curry

29.] Nicks/Heyward-Bey/Britt

36.] Alex Mack

50.] LeSean McCoy

um.. how do the browns get pick 29?

edit: im going to assume it means the browns trade BE to the giants, but it better be a 1st, 2nd, and a decent player, none of this 1st 4th and steve smith shit we keep hearing about.

one player is not going to change the entire defense. you can find quality defensive players with better value than at the 5 pick.

For some reason Curry doesn't really excite me all that much. I know that's against popular opinion almost anywhere, but I just don't see ILB's in the 3-4 being real game changers, ya know?

Ray Lewis?

I get what you are saying just pointing out an obvious exception to your statement.

I agree there can be good value had in the 2nd and 3rd round with defensive players however; I just don't like many of the options at #5, naming Crabtree, so if Curry is on the board I think you have to pull the trigger.
