Would you trade JJ for Randolph?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think Randolph has the higher ceiling and could very well become the better player, but I would not do this trade. Hickson has the chance to be a legitimate power forward with fantastic explosion. He's a strong pick and roll finisher and even showed the ability to score down in the post during spots this season.

Randolph, on the other hand, is what's becoming more prevalent in today's game. Teams are taking chances on these Lamar Odom types in order to stretch the floor and give their point guards a few plays off. But this just doesn't seem necessary with LeBron James on the court. I'd much rather have him paired up with a big that finishes strong and doesn't need the ball in his hands until the end of the play than these Odom/Villanueva/Beasley types.

I'm not comparing Randolph to those guys in terms of skill, but rather style. I just don't see him becoming a guy that would complement LeBron as much as a traditional pick and roll power forward.

Why the hell would we want Moped Ellis? What the hell is this.

What position does Monta play if he gets traded here? A 6'3" SG who doesn't play defense doesn't have a place on the Cavs. Boobie is lights out shooting and is a better defender than Mo and he couldn't even see the floor. Add that to the fact that he is a poor 3P shooter, and feels the need to shoot the ball 22 times a game and I say he has no place on the Cavs. I'd rather have a S&T Morrow so we don't have to use our MLE on a SG along with their 2011 1st because I doubt they are giving up their 2010 just to dump Maggette.

A 6'3" PG that can score the ball at almost 10 ppg more than Mo and do so more efficiently is better no matter how you regard Mo. Monta is a better scorer, at minimum an equal defender and is taller, and you underestimate how much playing in our system benefits 3 point shooters. For instance Mo came from Milwaukee and his 3pt% jumped by almost 6%. I think if we could get Monta it would be great, he is young and is pretty athletic and is a great scorer and under the right coach he could be a good defender.

With Randolph we would be upgading two different positions, and it would set us up to trade for another piece (SG) with the remaining expirers.

Why wouldn't you want a 25 point per game legitimate second offensive option.

Wrong...dead wrong.

What makes me dead wrong?

IMO Randolph is more developed offensively. His defensive potential is far higher. Randolph's explosiveness off the ground and his length also make him a superior finisher and his mid range jumper is better than JJ's. He can create his own shot and play off the ball.

The things we like about JJ are his athleticism, ability to run the floor and dunk, weak side shot blocking, and rebounding. Everything we like about JJ, Randolph is better a version of.

By "legitimate" you mean someone who chucks 22 shots a game playing Nellieball all game long on a bottom feeder and also has a ton of red flags mentally? I think I'll pass lmao.

I think his style of play is even better suited because he can run the P&R, it's not a difficult concept to learn. Where JJ gives just the roll, AR can give you the roll and be just as efficient as JJ and he can pick and pop with his mid range.

The fact is you can't really say he wouldn't fit a style because he's never played in a style to begin with. When I watch him play I see a guy who moves off the ball with cuts and crashes the boards. He's one of the few guys on a team that plays no defense and is a ball hog offense who's willing to block some shots and offensive rebound. To me, that says a lot about a young player.

Monta's TS%? .517

Mo's TS%? .580

Not even a contest as to who is more efficient.

I think the main problem with the deal is the second half in Cash savings(delonte) and expirings(moon) for a very poor long contract in Maggette. I would think GS would jump at this the Cavs NO.

For a second I thought you meant Zach Randolph.. :ninja:

You want to talk about another chucker than?

Player A (won't name him) takes 21.5 (.5 less) shots to get 27PPG (1.5 ppg more) on .007 FG% better.

Can you tell me who player A is?

If you wouldn't want Player A on your team then you would be a crackhead. And playing nellie ball lowers your FG% as you are just jacking up terrible shots.

Monta's numbers are so empty that the Warriors played better statistically the entire year when he was OFF the court.

Monta is the first option on his team (or second) where as Mo was the third option and then fourth when AJ got here. You really underestimate how LeBron can effect a players shooting %. Look at Mo Williams for the best example. Look at Anthony Parker, look at Delonte. All of their 3pt% went up dramatically when they came here.
