non-believers dont read the Word so they are not aware of what it says, the events, the timeline, etc. they just hear the prophecies and say they are to are not clear and and decisive enough.
Broad generalization. Just about as true as saying that all Jews have big noses.
You can read The Bible and not believe it.
Many people who ended up more confident in other religions have read The Bible and not believed it. Many students have done so too. Your generalization doesn't make your belief that people can read it and not believe it true.
this is quite the ironic statement because this is exactly what the theory of evolution is. countless ideas turned beliefs.
let me tell you where the theory of evolution started. it obviously started with darwin. what was it, the 1800s? he came up with this out the thin air. he was outside admiring the world, the mountains, the sky, the flowers, trees, the birds, animals and the whole natural scene in general and was admiring in awe.. and he said, "no way did a all powerful God make this in 6 days".
THAT is how the idea of evolution came about.. by somebody who DIDNT AND REFUSED TO BELIEVE.
Matthew 22:29 Jesus answered them, “You are deceived, because you don’t know the scriptures or the power of God.
the theory of evolution was birthed by disbelief. but why couldnt he believe God created the world and the universe in 6 days? because he couldnt comprehend such a powerful being. a all powerful God that things happen at HIS SPOKEN WORD. thats power.
Most things that are right came about in response to not believing something that was wrong. Are you saying that Darwin is wrong in his claims about evolution? Or do you believe that God created things and acknowledged that those things evolved?
Do you believe that one can't believe in both God and evolution?
you see what that says, the gospel of the kingdom will be preached throughout the whole inhabited world, and THEN the end will come. guess what.. do you realize how close we are to the gospel being preached throughout the entire world??? i say theres like 1% that it hasnt reached... and THEN the end will come... take that and add it to this
So you're committing to the 1% thing? Define preached. Do people just have to hear it? Do they have to believe it? Do they have to go to church?
If that 1% hits while we're both alive, can I get paid?
on top of that, its a proven fact that christians are thee most persecuted group of people in the entire world..
What's the proof of this? Are you talking in terms of volume, like how many people are being persecuted? Or the quality of the persecution?
you can look the other way if yo want, but you cant deny the accuracy of the Word, the prophecies.
I can deny it. And I'm not looking the other way here. I've exposed myself to religion so enough of an extent that I just don't believe in enough of what they're saying that the credibility is lost on things that actually seem feasible too.
but i will tell you, i lived without Jesus, and i am living with him. life without him was very dry, very unsatisfying. always searching for something to fill that void in me. sex, alcohol, party party, sex sex, as many sex partners as possible. and i was miserable. but sex and other worldly lusts did not fill me, did not fulfill me. i was still thirsty, still searching for something that only Jesus could give me.
i use to suffer from depression for 8years. i was on meds and everything. this was before i was born again and baptized. i knew about JESUS but i didnt KNOW Him. 1 day i heard that voice in the back of my head, it told me that Jesus is a healer and all i have to do is pray and to throw the medicine away.
so what i do? i was like, yea you are right, i will pray and put these pills away. after a week of prayer, that depression that was such a huge problem in my life, it controlled my life, it was a MOUNTAIN in my life... after some faithful praying, that depression was no longer a factor and the Good Lord through that mountain in th ocean like He said He would.
This is AWESOME. I'm glad that's what worked for you and frankly...if you believe this and don't hurt anybody with your beliefs and it's made you feel better, more power to you.
I can completely understand why religion would work for someone. There's a great deal of value in believing in it and I respect the hell out of it fulfilling people. You're a far more useful human being to the world if you're happy and content and I assume that you're committing Christian acts and helping others as part of your faith.
With all that said, I likely believe in most of the morals and principals that you do but I don't believe in them because they came from The Bible, and I don't interpret The Bible literally either. In fact, I don't believe about 90% of the OId Testament, though I do believe a great deal of the New Testament minus the miracles.
As or sex, alcohol and partying...it's mostly unproductive and people tend to seek it out to forget other problems. All of these things in moderation can be useful and enjoyable. I love having sex with my wife. I love to drink a beer or two and I enjoyed getting drunk and hanging out with friends and I was in college. I firmly believe these things can be done in the right way and SHOULD be done in the right way...that is safely and without hurting others. To me, it makes sense to do the things that make you happy until they hurt others. And just as importantly, do things to help others be happy as well.
people can deny if they want, but people dont know. because if they knew, then they would know. and thats the bottom line.
Again... I'm against generalizations and absolutes and you're dealing in them heavily.
