The year New Orleans won the Super Bowl, they went through the entire playoffs and Super Bowl in domes. Sean Payton's offense has always been a juggernaut based on speed, multiple cuts from receivers, scat backs, and other innovations that may or may not work as well in the ice and wind.

I'm not saying Colt cannot play QB in Cleveland, but I am saying that he has a lot to prove this winter. The AFC North is no place for a QB who falls apart in bad weather. It's a bad weather division.

Afew things that are important to note:

1. Colt targets his tight ends and runningbacks over 50% of the time. We can say this is because the recievers aren't elite, but I'm looking at that New Orleans and I don't see too many superstar recievers. Moore was undrafted, Colston was a 7th rounder, Henderson is a poorman's Dion Branch who is best running fly patterns, and Meachem has been a bit of a bust. Yet, Brees tries to get the recievers the ball. Colt will need to start doing the same.

2. Brees plays in a dome in a superb Sean Payton system. Let's see is Shurmer is cut from the same cloth, and let's see if it works in Cleveland's winters. One thing you have to respect about Favre and Rothlisberger is they would raise their games in bad weather. Colt is still under the gun on that front.

Obviously this needs to happen

honestly, andy fucking dalton seems to have a higher ceiling already than colt mccoy

Anyone that still listens to KNR after 92.3 came out is insane...

McCoy could be top 15 but his physical limitations (height, arm strength) keep him from being elite. Ill take McCoy in round 3 over Sanchez 5th overall though. Or Kaepernick in round 2. Or Ponder at 12 or Locker at 8. Losing a 3rd if he isn't the guy isn't as crippling as those.

Kaepernick is going to be a solid qb. Hes going to make atleast five playoffs. Book it.

Future League MVP? I'll take that one please!

I live outside the Cleveland area and I'm lacking some Cleveland sports radio here. Is this the station I should be streaming?

If we're talking ceiling, yeah I think Colt could be a top 10 QB because of some key traits: 1.) football intelligence 2.) accuracy 3.) work ethic and 4.) his name is Colt fuckin' McCoy.

If I had to bet money though, I'd say he'll be in the top 12-16 QBs in the league, but probably not top 10 due to the limitations CDT points out.

In regards to his arm, this article is dated http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=6558850, but sums up my only real concern about 'arm strength' and Colt.

McCoy had some good outings last season, but as Peyton Hillis broke down late in the year and the weather became more challenging, McCoy and the Browns' offense fell apart. Apologists will say that he hit the rookie wall and that this year Cleveland should have two power runners (Hillis and Montario Hardesty) to lean on throughout the season. I still contend that this is not a good match between young quarterback and the city he plays in. McCoy threw three interceptions in Week 16 against Baltimore and three interceptions in Week 17 against Pittsburgh -- both games were played in Cleveland by the lake. I don't think that was a coincidence.

Hoping to see better this year as it gets colder and we, hopefully, keep a more balanced attack. If he does in fact do better I am willing to downplay arm strength issues.

PS. I hate the use of word 'apologist(s)' in sports.

I missed both of those two games actually. Did it look like he was struggling because of cold weather and the like or because those were teo of the top d's in the league and he didn't have an effective run game complementing him?

Has there been extensive evidence of him struggling in cold weather at any point?

If you slapped a 'Garcia' name tag on McCoy's back and sent him out on the field, I would believe that it was Jeff Garcia. That's essentially my view of McCoy's on the field play. Maybe he's a better leader, and the other guys don't have to shy away from him in the shower, but that's all I see. Is that good enough to get to a championship in today's NFL? I'm not convinced. Lots of QB's have improved their pocket presence and arm strength as their careers progress though.

If I have a choice between him and Andrew Luck, I take Luck without question. Between McCoy and Lance Jones or Matt Barkley, the answer is not without doubt, and I may just take McCoy and the alternative draft pick as the more stable option.

Sanchez really isn't a bad QB. His numbers are nothing crazy, but he has a knack for game winning drives and doesn't cost his team games for the most part.

Aside from the interceptions and inability to take the next step forward despite immense talent around him.

Sanchez sucks...he hampers that team, I don't care what anyone says...

If he played for the Redskins and not the Jets no one would think he's anything special, but because he plays for a NY team and they have an absolutely nasty defense and a great running game his flaws are masked. He's not 5th overall worthy and I wouldn't put him in the top 15 quarterbacks in the league.

I bet Matt Flynn on the Jets would be better than Mark Sanchez on the Jets.

And this really is the key that people seem to forget about. He's not remotely worth the No. 5 picks and there are no signs he'll ever be a top 10 QB in the league. I think this was said before but I'd take McCoy in the 3rd over Sanchez at no. 5 any day of the week.

You still have to play road games in Cincy, Baltimore, and Pittsburgh every winter... as well as playoff games on the road. I don't know if you are kidding or not, but I'm really getting sick of the idea that the line has to change, not Colt McCoy. The receivers need to be overhauled, not Colt McCoy. The climate in Cleveland has to change, not Colt McCoy. The world has to change, not Colt McCoy.
