NFL Week 1 (9/7/14): Browns @ Steelers [1:00 PM EST, CBS]

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The thing that pisses me off about Cleveland Sports is the false hope. No team can just flat out suck, they always have to make us watch the entire game, and then lose it at the end.

I'm not looking for the positives in this game because face it, we always look at the positives and say "Oh if they can fix this, they'll be good."

They just can never get over that hump.

On the bright side for just me, I almost dropped Andrew Hawkins from my team after the first quarter but decided against it.

So you're just going to Frank around and be negative?

Dumb comeback. It is justifiable to be irritated with that nonsense in the first half. No need to be so close minded when they show some good signs.

If people are watching the Browns only cos they expect the Browns to win then I suggest they tune in week 8 when we play the Raiders. I dont see any games till then that are winnable

Yes they can, and do normally.

Not mad about this result, all about how they bounce back after this. Pretty obvious we have some solid young talent on this squad between West, Crowell, Bitonio, etc.

Disappointed with Gilbert, however.

Gilbert had a rough outing but he didn't get taken out of it mentally. He still made a few plays and some solid tackles. I mean Joe Haden is his all pro on the other side and he had a rough outing to. Let the defense build off of the front 7. The DBs will be up to speed.

May be wrong, but Antonio Brown owns Joe Haden.

Was it me or was Brown pushing off of Haden a lot?

I think he was, but I think Haden being as handsy as he is might've negated any of that. He just has so much trouble with him.

Nope you're right. Although Antonio Brown pretty much owns everyone he goes up against.

Very true. It just sucks that he seems to be the guy Haden has the biggest issue with.

Regardless of what happened in the first half, I put this game on Pettine.

He needed to run the ball three times and punt on that final possession to exhaust the Steeler's timeouts and play for OT. Rookie head coach mistake.

It's not that I am denying it...It's just that I don't care to hear about how this is a moral victory and how we don't have a right to be upset.

It's not a moral victory, but our coaching staff made half-time adjustments that actually worked and we came back from over a twenty point deficit. Yeah, we still lost, and that sucks, but at least this looked like a performance we could build on. I don't believe in moral victories, and the ending was predictable (I predicted it like six pages ago), but our offense and defense both looked really good for most of the second half. Hopefully we can continue that going forward and see some wins.

The one thing that i really liked was the fact that while the veteran RB Ben Tate simply did not make the impact, The rookies West and Cromwell performed impressively. Sucks to lose Cameron. I hope we keep this coaching staff, GM intact for 4 years at-least. I see potential.

Positives:
-Cleveland Browns extend their moral victory streak to a record 217-0
-Basketball season starts soon

Negatives:
-Well, yeahhhh...

There's some truth to this but it's unknown if those adjustments in the 2nd half were that of coaching or just a fluke of nature when a team is so far down that the other team allow's its intensity to dwindle under the circumstances by simple human nature. I'm not saying we didn't look much improved, because we did, but we also looked like the same team in the first half on those last couple of drives both defensively and offensively.

The Steelers are a middle of the road team at best and we should have taken that momentum to a victory if we are actually the team of the 2nd half rather than the 1st half.

We negated the entire 2nd half by a couple of bad drives on BOTH sides of the ball so therefore there is no positive. That's my take.
