Cons:
You lose another title with the King
0-3
The big 3 break up and go on their ways

But the Pros:
You become the greatest team to ever play the game of basketball

I'm taking this any day of the week twice on Sunday

Draymond Green, Curry and co. do not respect us. We know that. We took them to six games with Delly, Mozzy and a few other guys who would not be starters otherwise.

They don't respect that or respect us. "We Suck" according to them, and we're just fodder for them being declared the greatest team ever by their dick suckers over at ESPN.

They'll take us lightly. It's in their nature, again they don't respect us.

I would imagine that Cavs an ENORMOUS chip on their shoulder after seeing what those idiots have been doing between this time this year and now. They know about it. They're not blind. I imagine that's been in their back of their heads all season and every other thing just adds to that. Every "Commemorative" basketball, Every ESPN talking head gloating about this team.

I would be ready to come out and sock these guys in the mouth when the tip off happens. The team knows this. Everyone on that roster is going to leave everything on the floor.

The Cavs are hungry. I'd outphysical and outwork these asshats on every possession.

Where did you find this stat? Very cool!
The Cavs currently have the 2nd best ORtg in post merger NBA playoff history...2nd to the fucking prime Showtime Lakers by 0.7...

Yet all people want to talk about is how the Cavs are going to stop GS...
Whe

People worry way too much about how to defend the small ball GSW death lineup. The way that lineup gets you is it creates turnovers and people have a hard time scoring against it. Look at what happened to OKC at the end of game 6 and 7: they were within striking distances but just wasted possession after possession with terrible shots. Eventually they got bailed out by that bad Ibaka foul.

With Curry and Thompson they're going to score but if you don't score and then get extra possessions forget it. Cavs are unique in that they play very slow and efficient ball. The game plan is not going to shut them down but just contest the shots, get extra possessions with our rebounding and don't give them extra possessions. In other words make them match up with us (Last year Kerr had to do it by bring David Lee of all people out of mothballs: that won't work with this year).

Also remember the death lineup doesn't play big minutes because they'd run out of steam if they had to play it big minutes as it depends on smaller players really hustling after boards and preventing bigs getting good position. Lue's gameplan for this is pretty straightforward make them work the entire game (our second unit is certainly tough)

Just a few key points.

Iggy played >38 min twice in the regular season and zero times in the playoffs until G6. He has played 38:10 and 43:04 the last two games and he will absolutely get as much run as he can as he is the only hope GSW has to defend LeBron. He clearly frustrated LeBron last year and GSW were content letting LBJ go 1on1 with him. LeBron's primary skill is to force a defense to rotate and find the right guy. KD was completely incapable of doing that (and was being funneled towards some horrific offensive teammates) and was forcing some horrible shots. I think G1 is a great opportunity to catch GSW at Oracle. They have defended a team with two offensive options the last few weeks; the Cavs have threats all over the place that will be a substantial departure for them. The big question is if LeBron can break down GSWs defense with Iggy on him. Last year GSW could bring help, or at least the threat of help, off quite a few guys. Now they have far more limited options to support from.

Kyrie, Klay and Steph are insane shot makers. The record for 3s in a postseason series WOULD BE Klay with 30 against OKC, if it weren't for Steph in the same series, who made 32. And a great many of those were absolutely horrible looks that somehow went down. And that's the problem with GSW. If they are rolling, there isn't a lot that can be done. I think we are the better team but if they are making shots like they were in G6 and G7, none of that even matters. OKC was clearly the better team. But they shot 10/50 from 3 the final two games and GSW shot 38/82. That's like going 28/32 from 3 in the extra shots they took above and beyond OKC. You just can't overcome that. And the Cavs have been really inconsistent in their shooting. If they can shoot like they did against ATL, there is going to be a parade.

Lastly, Draymond gets suspended a game for a F1 and two games for a F2. He has shown he is a wild card. I think he misses at least one game in this series. Even if he can hold himself back, I think he is a lesser player when he can't play with that edge.

Two days away. Can't wait.

Back to back topics on PTI:

Have Warriors already validated their team? (Yes, and expecting/demanding them to beat LeBron who has gone to six straight Finals is unrealistic)

Does LeBron have to win this year? (Yes, because he put the pressure on himself when he came back)

:chuckle:

Defense - Don't switch bigs on to Curry and Klay. It's just a bad move. It not only leaves the bigs open to the side-step three - like he did to Ibaka and Adams all series - but it also leaves the bigs on smalls downlow which not only is bad for our defense, but also is bad for rebounding.

Fight over the screens, and even step the big out a step or two if you need to on the pick and rolls, but recover to your man, and make that big handle the ball, or let Curry and Clay play circus performers all night.

Next, don't give them a lot of space to land. I'm not saying to put your foot under their landing spot. That is cheap and dirty and terrible. I'm saying they should be worried about it because of how close you are when they are landing. Turn your butt towards them so you don't have your toes out there for them to land on, but you should be right under them without foulling when Curry and Klay are shooting. All we need is for them to think about their landing for a milisecond, and they will miss the shot.

Finally, in the immortal words of Sasha Pavlovic, a great offense is sometimes your best defense. The Warriors live on transition threes to get them going on their streaks. Get high quality shots at the rim, crash the glass while maintaining some floor balance up top for transition defense, and make these guys play against your set defense.

Offense - Run Curry Run. I expect Curry will be defending JR. If that is the case, we need to run that man off of down screens until his legs fall off.

Bang Curry Bang. We have 3 or 4 bigs that will play serious minutes in this series. Each game, each of these players should set one wipe out screen and take the foul for wiping out curry. Just beat his little ass up physically all game, and don't let up for a second. Like Pat Riley said, keep fouling and they will eventually stop calling everything.

Switch Curry Switch. With Lebron as a capable pick or roll man, we should be aiming at Curry's man, and attempting to get Curry to switch onto Lebron, at which point you just head right at him, and when the defense collapses you can pass to our snipers. Not only is it good to go at him because he is a weak defender, but it will also gets into players heads when you are consistently targeting them on defense. When you are a shooter, having your mental game messed up is huge.

Long rebounds must lead to points - they are a jumpshooting team, which means they will have long rebounds. We have enough good rebounding down low that we should have someone sprinting down the court as soon as we have a rebound secured. Hopefullly, Curry is the only one back, and we can make him look Silly trying to guard Kyrie or Lebron in the open court. If not, we may be able to at least switch him onto someone because of the rushed transition Defense and problems manning up appropriately.

Lastly, GET PHYSICAL I know I've already said it about Curry, but this whole team is a bunch of preening posturing punks who are bullies until someone hits them in the mouth. If you can seriously rough them up (not to injure, just to make them feel you out there, and afterwards in the ice-bath) you will not only take their energy, but you will also get in their heads. DG will not be able to keep his cool and will absolutely be out of at least one game if we work this right, and if we can get them some negative momentum, I don't think they will be able to really recover. If the Thunder had any sense of killer instinct the Warriors would already be fishing.

Let's finish the job.

Well done, sir

I dont watch many other games that the Cavs arent playing in. However, i started watching the warriors in the playoffs. Despite what the stats and ranking say, i'm not impressed at all with their "vaunted" defense. i saw a lot of sloppy d, bad weakside help and major lapses in focus.

Either im not watching the right team, or this shoddy defense isnt talked about in the media as much as the Cavs lapses.

It isn't being talked about at all.

I keep harping on how bad the Cavs defense looks at times, but the Warriors D has been consistently worse throughout these playoffs. It's been masked by their opponents offensive' struggles at times though.

The Cavs players themselves don't seem scared of GS one bit like fans do. This has been confirmed. They WANT GS.

If you don't play scared like I thought OKC clearly did. And you have the talent to disrupt them. You can beat them. Let's stop acting like this team doesn't have flaws. They're really good, we get that, but they have flaws too.

They've been exposed by lesser teams than us. If GS had the ability to defend us, I'd be worried more. But they don't.

The Cavs were up 2-1 without Love and Irving.... I mean come on... And don't give me this shit that Steph is a million times better.

He's had his typical doesn't-show-up kind of games like he did last post season too.

I thought OKC did expose somethings you can do against him. If your big men switch; stay big on Steph. When OKC did this they caused him some problems.

Who cares if he beats you off the dribble. Let him if he does. He's not Westbrook fast where he can will go by in a blur. The help defense can be good enough to recover.

Steph and Klay will make tough shots. It will happen. I'm more worried about Klay than Steph personally. I think Steph has shown more vulnerabilities.

Big men are typically are not keen to closing out so hard against guards because they know they'll get burnt most of the time. It's just a habit of nature.

Luckily in a series you get time to adjust.

Mozgov did this pretty well against Steph last year. On switches he stayed big on Steph on close outs and it caused him some problems. I hope Tristan/Love etc do that to him. Take away his shooting air space. If he goes around them, so be it.

Hey now...I've been talking about their problems on defense longer than anyone here...started talking about it back in February...they went from a top 3 DRtg to out of the top 10 in a relatively short period of time, and their defense hasn't picked up in the playoffs either...

Think their DRtg last year when they won it all and dominated the playoffs was ~100...up to 105 this year...that's a pretty significant drop off...Bogut is hurt and slow, Ezeli isn't what he was following the surgery, and Draymond being asked to do more offensively is hurting them on defense...really, their only + defender right now is Klay IMO...

I already hate Draymond as much as possible for is countless cheap shots. I can only imagine that hatred will go up when he does it to a player I care about... There is no way he gets suspended this series right?

Where are you seeing this? Both NBA.com and ESPN have their DRtg in the playoffs at 100.9.

Great info and stats flying around this thread, as always.

I feel like the biggest key to the whole series will be the Cavs' performance in 4th Quarters and their ability to take a punch and keep executing at a high level on offense. OKC did it well at times but wilted at the worst times, especially late in the series. I hope the Cavs watched those implosions and learned from them.

That and coaching. Lue has been preparing for this series since he took over, I hope he has a plan prepared and he sticks with it.

Cavs in 6, take us home Bron...
