Damn, Jimmy G this is some serious good quarterbacking.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
So are the Pats going to pay 2 QBs $20m+ next year? I just don't buy it, especially with Brady showing no signs of slowing down

We do realize that its about 1 out of 8 or so that actually work out, so odds are low, but no lower than any other option.

The biggest issue with Jimmy G is his contract being for only 1 more year.

I just dont see NE being able to keep him, if Brady plays 2+ more years like he says he will, they wont be able to franchise him and the Browns can easily come in and give a bigger offer.

So maybe the correct play is drafting a qb with 12 or 33, seeing how that works, then if didnt work out, outbid NE for him next offseason with the 16 million in cap space Brock will free up and not pay any picks for Jimmy.

Like i said, no way they can afford to franchise or transition tag him if he is a backup next year, and besides, transition tag only costs us a 2nd.

I am back to 2nd round for Jimmy or nothing boat, NE doesnt have the leverage they think they do.

I am still fearful that Grappalo isn't the guy. If he didn't play another year and than we get into a bidding war for him, that could also blow up in our face. I just don't want to have a Cassel situation on our hands. I think if he is in the plans at all, you get him now and see what he's capable of over an entire season vs. throwing money at a guy who is still unproven in the league a year later.

Brock is the most recent situation and with the type of cap space we have and the amount of players that will be on rookie contracts, taking a chance on him next offseason only costs us 20 mill or so a year (contracts go up) for 2 years.

Yes it is a risk, but its a 2 year risk we will be able to afford because we will have 30+ players by the 2nd year of the contract still on rookie deals.

The amount of draft picks and high draft picks at that is crazy, and it will benefit in several ways it is why teams like Dallas in the 90's showed stock piling picks is the path to turning a historically bad team around.

It just wouldn't make sense considering we can offer them a chance to improve their roster with young, but most importantly super cheap players to surround Brady with for another 4 or 5 years of Super Bowl runs. The value there is just unmatched. He has to be moved.

This allows them to shore up the roster in other ways with their cap space. It's honestly a win-win situation on both ends.

The Jimmy-related content been upgraded to my most probable case. Offer a late 2nd now, then by the trade deadline, that has to be a late 3rd or 4th. As time dwindles, so does our opportunity to try him out, so that we know whether or not to extend him, and so does his value to help us in the coming year.

In the meantime, let's do the best thing for the future and NOT draft a QB. Let's draft BPA and see what The Weiler of Os (good name change for @The Wizard of Moz ) can do or what Kessler can do. If Watson is that BPA, then go for it.

If we can get Garrett, OJ Howard (TE, Bama), then trade up for Obi (Safety, UConn), use last 2nd for best CB available, I will be ecstatic.

It's tough to play the long game as fans, but if you can envision the next year with JG at the helm, and all of those draft picks coming in again, you'll see where I am going with this.

It appears Brock will not be given a shot, but Kessler might. Maybe kessler looks better with 3 seconds in the pocket to throw the occasional long ball.

Britt being good at crossing routes while that is Kessler's best route just might not be a coincidence.

Still like to see us bring back Pryor to give us a few more legit weapons for Kessler.

My read on the Pryor situation is a little Cavs Griffin-esque: Hue said go out, meet with people, and do what's best for you, which meant that he wanted TP to go around and see the other teams and re-sign with confidence. SF is a dumpster fire, the Jets are a disaster, and Cousins is being held prisoner by his own team in Washington. I think Hue cares for TP the person, and TP knows that, and ultimately we want guys who want to be here, and this will be the case with TP.

lol go buy your Jimmy G jerseys
BB is going ham this off season almost like we lost the super bowl.

Well Cleveland will be my number 2 team

It just seems inevitable now. Give them a 2,3,4 and let them get some young talent.

If this actually happens Schefter is going to have to retire.

Before the trade, staff were getting low chances of Jimmy Garoppolo coming to Cleveland. Didn't want to be a party pooper. Who knows now.

It definitely seems like Belichick is making deals like he's ready to ride off into the sunset with Tom Brady (once he calls it quits). These are things he just wouldn't do before. First spending 60 million on Gilmore, then trading a first round pick for a receiver.

Either he's in a midlife crisis, or he's saying fuck it, get a 6th and maybe 7th super bowl with Brady and then call it a career.

Don't buy for one second Jimmy is off the table. Never did, really.

If I'm the Browns, I'd throw out both of this years 2nd's for Jimmy G and Pats 2018 1st. Would be amazing to have two 1sts and three 2nds in 2018 to combine into three or four impact players. If the Browns want they could likely trade back a few spots from 12 and get a 2nd or 3rd in return. They also have plenty of other picks to move back into the 2nd if they so choose.

That'd mean that out of your top four picks this year you'd be getting Garrett, Jimmy G, Pats 2018 1st, and whoever you take at 12. That's a tremendous haul.

Pats get two picks to either add young talent through the draft of use to acquire vets via trade. They also get something for Jimmy G while not having to pay to keep him. The Browns 2nd rounder is essentially the same value as what the Pats 1st would likely be. It would just give them more flexibility in the draft next year.

They just traded their first this year for Brandin Cooks.. Not to mention trading both of our 2nds this year would not be a great move given the talent throughout the first two rounds. #33 and a second next year should be enough for him, if not the Patriots can just keep him while we fill more holes.
