Kiser is easily the best QB we've had since the Browns return, easily, and that's after his first professional game. People saying he was bad/disappointing is baffling to me. What were you expecting? I think he played as well as you could of hoped. He didn't make a ton a bad decisions and kill any chance his team had of winning. Yeah he held onto the ball too long, but he's a 21 year old inexperienced QB, that's pretty much to be expected.
I think he showed a lot of signs, I'm pretty much sold, I think he's the guy. Of course he's got to get a lot better, but I think he will.
Agreed. I actually think it sets up well, this year is a pure learning /experience/reps year. He will take his lumps but have his moments and he will get a LOT out of it, and learn a lot about the NFL and Hues offense,
Then this upcoming draft, we're really set up to add multiple big time playmakers to pair with Kizer, as well as fill out the defense which is already going to be young and good, but we can make it more deep and versatile. Give him some young, dynamic athletic targets going into his second year, and I really think we could be moving toward a nice jump like the Titans/Raiders/Bucs have made with young QB's.
Not everything was perfect, but for the first time in a long time I have some real confidence in the direction we're moving in, from top to bottom. Front office, coaching etc. I'm not even a huge Hue fan, but if he really can develop a quarterback properly, then he's the right guy for the job at least for now. (but I AM a HUGE Gregg Williams fan....that was the best thing we've done in awhile).
Plus, Garrett is going to be a stud once he gets on the field. sure it's being delayed a couple of weeks, but he's going to play plenty once that ankle heals, he will have plenty of opportunities to develop and get reps/chase after quarterbacks and show off.
Really feeling positive about the Browns. I have season tickets in the pound, but only attended 1 game per year the last 3 years(i buy them for the family mostly, my wifes brother runs a big tailgate and loves to go and pays for half of the seats with me). But this year I've already committed to 3 home game dates and hope to go to even more than that.
Great time for Cle sports...for now...Cavs won a title, still competing...Indians are nothing short of amazing(Francona is the best...he really is)...and the Browns are showing signs of life. Glad it's finally happening in my late 30's/early 40's and not in my 80's...haha
