I'm not ready to anoint Greedy a top-15 CB before he even sees the field. Can he get there? Sure. But there are a ton of really good corners in the league right now. While I don't agree with them, here are the 11 CB's that PFF had ranked ahead of Denzel Ward last year.
- Stephon Gilmore
- Desmond King
- Chris Harris
- Kareem Jackson
- Byron Jones
- Jason McCourty
- Kyle Fuller
- Patrick Peterson
- Bryce Callahan
- Johnathan Joseph
- Prince Amukamara
Then you have to throw in Ward, Marhson Lattimore, Tre'Davious White, Steven Nelson, Marlon Humphrey, Jalen Ramsey, AJ Bouye, Xavien Howard, Casey Hayward, Trumaine Johnson, Darius Slay, Jaire Alexander, Aqib Talib, Marcus Peters... there are so many talented corners right now and I know I'm forgetting a bunch.
Do we have the potential to have the best CB situation in the league? Well... maaaybe... it's going to be hard to surpass Jacksonville having Ramsey and Bouye. But we definitely have the potential to have two of the better man-coverage corners in the league. I was already excited to see what this defense could do under Wilks instead of Gregg Williams. If Greedy turns out to be another lockdown man corner? Man is it going to be fun to watch Garrett, Vernon, Ogunjobi, Richardson and Avery get after opposing QB's.
With regards to Greedy's off the field things, here are what's rumored. Let me know if I missed one:
- Skipping bowl games (I don't care)
- Not tackling (Kinda care--but if his reasoning is that he's saving his body for the pros where he'll get paid, I can't fault him)
- Skipping coach interviews at the combine (I fault him for this--not only do I not like it, but he's actively costing himself and his family money by hurting his draft stock)
- The rumor of him hiding an injury (Not going to put any credit into this until it's confirmed)
