2019 FA and Offseason Mega Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Cousins a Laker, 1 year deal.

They also brought Rondo back for 2 more years. Lakers making some odd moves post Kawhi. Although Cousins was quietly solid last year for GS. Another year removed from injury and the motivation to want to get paid he could be a problem for teams next year. A Motivated DeMarcus is a scary DeMarcus. Shame no one else got DeMarcus because if hes back to even 80 percent of his former self the Lakers will have 3 stars (LeBron, Anthony Davis, DeMarcus Cousins) and the rest of the league is down to 2 stars at most per team.

Solid, Cousins was not. He is toast and will never be the player he was. I suspect more injuries will befall him this year. A good example what the Nets have to look forward with with Durant.

I think those picks, the Thunder got, will be very beneficial, especially by 2026. That in protected pick after Kawhi and George will be long burned out could lead to a lottery bonanza right when you rebuild starts bearing fruit, then you add another stud. I wished the Cavs would have done that with the Heat in the 2010's.

16/8 shooting 48% from the field (27 from 3 so he should stop chucking 3s) from the field with 1.5 BPG and 1.3 SPG in 25 MPG isn't solid anymore? Had a 102 (tied for the 2nd highest of his career) defensive rating when he wasn't near 100 percent. Was he the monster he was in Sacramento? No, but he doesn't need to be that in LA. In LA LeBron's corpse and Anthony Davis need to carry the load. But Cousins will be motivated to have a good season since next year is his last chance at ever getting paid again. I could see 20/10 with the same 1.5 BPG, 1.3 SPG on decent efficiency numbers.

Lakers roster beyond their Big Two:

Kyle Kuzma
Quinn Cook
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope
Jared Dudley
Danny Green
DeMarcus Cousins
Rajon Rondo
Alex Caruso
Talen Horton-Tucker
JaVale McGee
Troy Daniels

They should go to the playoffs if LBJ and AD stay healthy, but there are not really a lot of guys on that list I see coming up big in a clutch game in the WCF. Maybe Old Rajon Rondo has still got it in him, maybe Cousins will recover. He looked pretty decent at times in the regular season but after that quad injury he didn't look good at all in the Finals -- could be toast.

They should try for Andre Iguodala, he can still be a difference maker, but maybe he goes to the Clippers now too :). They should give Avery Bradley a shot too, injured all the time now but when healthy he is the kind of guard they need.

if we ignore his poor performance against Portland in the playoffs (shoulders) then the last time we saw a healthy Playoff P was him getting his sh** pushed in by Joe Ingles. Crown them if you want but I’ll never forget PG scoring 5 points in a playoff elimination game but fans will always give him the benefit of the doubt for some reason. Nevertheless a great gamble by Clippers because Kawhi clearly believes in PG.

SGA getting traded to OKC is pretty funny considering he refused to play for Cleveland.

Not in the east. Westbrick after Durant left was surrounded with scraps and still made the playoffs in the west. East sucks but he would only get us a bottom 4 seed and a first round exit for the next 2 year's then Westbrick expires and would likely walk.
I would argue Westbrook is not the player he was even 2 seasons ago

How so? Hes the exact same player. He just deferred more to Paul George. If he has no one else around him he will take his shots again. Hes 30 but hes still got the same explosiveness and the same tendency to find shots no one else would or should take. (as in he chucks more then anyone else in the game)

He use to be able to score somewhat efficiently now he is just a compete train wreck, his jump shot has completely gone to shit. It was never great but it wasn’t as horrible as it is now.

If we added Westbrook we’d still be terrible on defense, we’d be partnering him with an undersized young pg. Not seeing how we make playoffs

No it always was this bad. His MVP year he he shot 34.8% from 3. But every other year is between 28-30 from 3. He also still gets to the line an awful lot. But stop saying he wasn't as horrible as he is now because aside from the MVP Year hes right in line with his career efficiency wise. How we make the playoffs is pretty simple. We would out score a lot of teams because we have guys who get buckets. Also I want no part of Westbrook. But if we get Westbrook he easily leads us to a playoff spot in the bottom of the shitty eastern conference. We would be a first round exit. But we make the playoffs.

Let’s hope we never find out

Is it me or do the Lakers still not have much shooting? Lebron loves his 3 pt shooters, outside of Danny Green, where are they? Caldwell Pope somewhat, but that roster has hardly any shooting. That roster to me leaves a lot to be desired. So much for Lebron and AD resting much. And both of those two better not miss any games this year. Not sure banking on a 35 year old Lebron and a very brittle AD to play 82 and games and possibly 2 months of Playoffs is going to work. Oh, and throw a very brittle Boogie in the mix too. Lebron better have one more Superman season in him thats for sure.

Quinn Cook is a career 41% 3 point shooter and is the type of guard that LeBron will elevate his play. My guess is Cook will end up being their starting PG after they get tired of Rondo not being able to shoot.
