2019 FA and Offseason Mega Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I would argue Westbrook is not the player he was even 2 seasons ago

Once his athleticism wanes, you wonder what kind of player Westbrook will be. He’s so reliant upon his quickness & athleticism.

There’s likely to be a limited market for Westbrook. Some teams I can see being interested are Detroit, Miami, Minnesota, & possibly New Orleans.!

Lakers fans have hopes of them landing him at the trade deadline. My question is, with what? They traded everything for AD. Never going to happen.

Cousins had a really good year going with he played with AD and Rondo a couple years ago before injury. They already have some chemistry to fall back on, and the Lakers maybe relying on it.
The strength of the Clippers, guard defense, is going to be somewhat neutralized by the Lakers. AD and LBJ are huge physical beasts, and Cousins is too when healthy and motivated. AD is unguardable when healthy (historically LBJ is too).
It should be a fun ass season.

I think they will have to find no real market for Westbrook from other teams. They would probably have to trade the Kuzma, Cook, Danny Green, Cousins, and Caldwell-Pope. Maybe they could get the value from making it a multi-team deal.

I hope someone steps up to get Westbrook other than the Lakers. Really I could see OKC building around Westbrook. If they traded for Love and TT from us and they keep Gallo, that could be a pretty good team. They just need to find a solid 3&D wing to be the starting SG.

If I were the Cavs, I’d be kicking the tires on SGA.

If Garland is our building block, Sexton + JR for SGA. Give them a bit more cap relief and a young player. Maybe even a 2nd?

SGA / Garland pairing would be perfect to build around. Just skill match wise.

I hate the idea of punting on Sexton, and believe he'll be a better player than SGA. But I can't argue against a swap if the Cavs are committed to Garland as the PG of the future.

What is the point of adding JR? Is it us dumping the guaranteed portion of his salary, or us giving OKC another asset to move?

How could they possibly absorb his salary in a trade? He's making $38.1M.

I actually think SGA could be the player to make our guard rotation work. He would pair well with either Garland or Sexton. The 3 of them could take up almost all the PG and SG minutes. If all 3 are starter quality guards in 2 years then we could trade one for a more appropriate piece or assets.

125% rule. They just have to get 30 million in salaries. Danny Green would make up almost half of that. I'm not sure if Caldwell-Pope is signed yet but my guess he will get overpaid every cent the Lakers can give him when everything is done so he can help as a salary filler.

The proposed trade to get SGA required us to give up Sexton, so the idea wasn't a three guard rotation.

Otherwise, why would a rebuilding team like OKC do the trade at all? Why would they want to have one less talented young guard?

It would have to be more than $30m in assets going out.

For some reason I thought you replied to the bigger traded that someone proposed earlier with TT and Love. In that scenario, I could see OKC giving up SGA to preserve their future assets. If they build around Westbrook, SGA doesn't fit as well in their timeline.

OKC is wisely going to try to dump Westbrook. I just hope we're not stupid enough to be the team that takes him.

That would involve Koby doing something. And with Dan out for a while he’s not doing anything on his own.
