2019 Browns Rant Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
To be fair, Baker’s played like shit. Even if you remove the tipped picks, he legitimately been a bottom 5 QB to this point.

Dorsey put an OL around him that is so bad it should be criminal.

Most of the team is getting a big slice of humble pie after all the gloating and chest pumping they did in the offseason.

By far the biggest concern is the coaching staff. Freddie looks wholly incompetent. I wouldn’t want him coaching a HS team as of right now. He’s gotten worse from week-to-week. I’m concerned with his ability to keep this team together and get them on the right track. We’re leading the league in turnovers AND penalties. If that isn’t The definition of a poorly coached team then I don’t know what is.

So far we’ve beat a Jets team with their third string QB and a Ravens team that while they’re 4-2, their 4 wins have come against AZ, Mia, Cin, and Pit. Blown out by Tennessee who doesn’t appear to be any good. Blown by what looks like a good SF team. Then we blew games to LA and Sea, primarily on the back of some really bad coaching decisions.

Have there been some bad bounces? Absolutely. Have there been some questionable penalties? Yes of course. But you can only put so much on bad bounces and refs. The team looks out of sync. Whether that’s because of guys missing camp or preseason I don’t know, but that’s on the coach.

I mean...I just am struggling to see how any of those guys would be succeeding in the current situation.

Perhaps an argument could be made for Darnold as he would be able to fit more in that scheme (a major problem). Even then...I'm struggling.

This is something beyond going "WELL THE QB IS BAD. IF WE HAD ANOTHER ONE, WE'D BE DOING BETTER"

That’s worse than the Browns being the worst franchise in North America? Far worse? Really?

Yes actually.

Playing the self-pity card is wearing thin.

"HOW COME WE CAN'T BE LIKE FRANCHISE X"

Because Franchise X doesn't constantly run people out of town.

What the hell are you talking about? I'm being 100% serious here?

There are some very real, legitimate reasons to be pissed at Baker and the entire team. Talking about how he shotgunned a beer and filming commercials being the problem is, quite frankly, naive.

Baker didn't take the challenge of raising the franchise up as seriously as he could have at times. His approach to the plays in the first handful of games matched that overconfidence - not taking the checkdown, not dumping the ball after the play failed to develop, there are plenty of detailed plays we have all processed and watched in slow motion.

The comment about shotgunning a beer was hyperbolic, but I'd say a symbol for how the big name members of the Browns approached the off-season and marketing themselves rather than respecting their own craft and preparation.

So if hyperbole is going to start internet fights, do I really have to go back and mention ALL the hyperbole that I've seen the past three hours?

So I'm stuck with finding the areas the team is improving from week one, because that is how a team turns around a bad start. If the plane starts to pull out of the tailspin while it drops a close game, that is worth examining.

Baker looked more decisive and quick today. He regularly threw behind receivers (timing is not quite there yet), but the old adage sticks - if you can get your hands on the ball you catch the ball.

Play-calling is still suspect (as was the shitty officiating, yet again).

Tackling is pretty horrendous.

Kitchens needs to put the fire out and cook up somethin' different.

Chubb gives me more than a half-chubb. Full-on.

So many chances to win this game...

Can our receivers stop tipping the ball right to DB’s? Never seen anything like that in a single game.

At least there are some positives to take out of this game as opposed to last week.

That's definitely something they need to work on. Bat the ball down if it's out of reach not up so it deflects to the defender.

Also OBJ seems to stop running routes in RPOs, someone needs to explain to him that he need to get there or close to enough to bat it down.

Kitchens has been objectively awful so far. Good coaches put their players into position to be successful. Freddie does the exact opposite.

Am I nuts for thinking the talent is there to win 10 games though? Feel like this comes down to coaching and execution almost entirely. Sure the off line could be better but no team has zero holes.

Frankly, the talent is there to win even more. On paper, this is at least an 11-5 team, even with the shoddy line.

Coaching and execution is ultimately what will hold this team back. This team is severely lacking in both right now, as evidenced by the turnovers, dropped/tipped passes, and penalties. This team would be 4-2 right now if not for all the aforementioned woes. This is a team that needs to take a long, hard look in the mirror over the bye week.

Nobody expects them to come out and beat the Patriots, but we will see how competitive they can be.

There's talent to win more than 10 games, that's why I'm pissed. It feels like the organization looked at the names on paper, watched the second half of last year's tape and decided they didn't need to take the preparation for this season very seriously. Coaches aren't prepared. Players are sloppy and unfocused.

They got punked by the Niners, but the other losses were mostly self induced. Backbreaking turnovers, boneheaded play calling and game management, ridiculous penalties. We upgraded the talent, but keep pulling the same shit to snatch defeats we've seen for the last 20 years.

Ranting is good!

Just keep the attacks from being personal.
