To be fair, Baker’s played like shit. Even if you remove the tipped picks, he legitimately been a bottom 5 QB to this point.
Dorsey put an OL around him that is so bad it should be criminal.
Most of the team is getting a big slice of humble pie after all the gloating and chest pumping they did in the offseason.
By far the biggest concern is the coaching staff. Freddie looks wholly incompetent. I wouldn’t want him coaching a HS team as of right now. He’s gotten worse from week-to-week. I’m concerned with his ability to keep this team together and get them on the right track. We’re leading the league in turnovers AND penalties. If that isn’t The definition of a poorly coached team then I don’t know what is.
So far we’ve beat a Jets team with their third string QB and a Ravens team that while they’re 4-2, their 4 wins have come against AZ, Mia, Cin, and Pit. Blown out by Tennessee who doesn’t appear to be any good. Blown by what looks like a good SF team. Then we blew games to LA and Sea, primarily on the back of some really bad coaching decisions.
Have there been some bad bounces? Absolutely. Have there been some questionable penalties? Yes of course. But you can only put so much on bad bounces and refs. The team looks out of sync. Whether that’s because of guys missing camp or preseason I don’t know, but that’s on the coach.
I mean...I just am struggling to see how any of those guys would be succeeding in the current situation.
Perhaps an argument could be made for Darnold as he would be able to fit more in that scheme (a major problem). Even then...I'm struggling.
This is something beyond going "WELL THE QB IS BAD. IF WE HAD ANOTHER ONE, WE'D BE DOING BETTER"
That’s worse than the Browns being the worst franchise in North America? Far worse? Really?
Yes actually.
Playing the self-pity card is wearing thin.
"HOW COME WE CAN'T BE LIKE FRANCHISE X"
Because Franchise X doesn't constantly run people out of town.
