Get Excited Somewhere Else: John Dorsey

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Yeah fuck Dorsey for forcing Joe Thomas into retirement.
Wasn’t just Joe Thomas and you know it, but ok. Greg Robinson was a great move to try and replace him though!

FYI to all. I’m not saying to fire Dorsey. He deserves some shit flung his way though.

What other pieces of the line you're referencing are both gone and good players?

I think the big fault of Dorsey is the extreme undervaluing of the past regimes picks and completely overvaluing his own guys. At the end of the day he didn't build up the depth needed for a NFL season which I think was caused by the first point. This D-line should have never had depth problems. He let go Nassib for nothing. He traded for Ogbah for Eric Murray, who has basically done nothing for this team. Now we are playing Porter Gustin and Bryan Cox Jr at DE with Chad Thomas.

I think the big test is in the off-season is if Dorsey build on this roster instead of just reshuffling it. Can he resist the temptation to mess with good units and focus on where we actually need help.

Dorsey really needed to hit on the QB and coach and he missed on both.

I think his decisions ultimately sends guys like Kareem Hunt packing.

Why would he want to be Cleveland next year?

Does anyone see this team improving next season? I see them losing more talent than they acquire. The current roster has quit.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. You CAN NOT call Baker a bust at this point. Freddie, yes, Freddie small sample size of an offense and relationship with Baker got him the job, period. Turns out, he can’t coach up an entire team
We have seen some really good parts of Baker and some low points in Baker, which can be expected for an undersized #1 pick.
With all that said, he will get his entire rookie contract to prove himself. Baker himself is not losing us games, but over the last 26/27/28 games he has won us a few. He just needs someone to coach to his strengths and not rely on him. He has to many “I need the ball” guys on the receiving end and he/Freddie need to be running the ball 70% of the time.
We have 2 great running backs, utilize them all day!

Not using this logic to defend Freddie Kitchens amounts to little more than bias.

Neither have consistently shown the ability to perform at an acceptable level within their role.

And I have to say, wrapping up your defense of Baker by suggesting this team must run the ball 70% of the time to be successful isn't exactly a ringing endorsement of his abilities either.

He's been very poor this season though. I'd argue it looks like the Browns got off him at the right time.

Look, their line sucks, and I'm not disagreeing with you in that regard. I just think it's pretty difficult to ask Dorsey to build a whole team from the ground up in two offseasons. It's their biggest hole heading into this offseason, and I believe he will address it.

This season has sucked, but I think a lot of that falls on expectations that were too high and on bad coaching. I don't have problems with the roster decisions that have been made.

Hunt is a restricted free agent but regardless, I think they have carved out a good role for him. He has basically taken the role of #2 RB, fullback, and #3 WR. He is playing 50+% of snaps.

While the offense isn't as explosive as expected, I do think they have been trending in the right direction. Keeping this group of WRs, TEs, and RBs together around Baker will make a difference next year. I think Dorsey moved too many pieces from year one of Baker to year two and it throw off alot of chemistry.

I think year two of Baker with OBJ, Jarvis, Ratley, Chubb, Hunt, Carlson, Njoku, and Seals Jones will be much better game one and can built over the off-season. They won't be so arrogant to think they are just going to suit up and be a very good team going into the season. I expect them to be working out together and building chemistry.

Dorsey needs to focus on getting a real O-line. Two new tackles and a RG. He shouldn't expect Lamm, Teller, or Forbes to really compete to be a starter with whoever he brings in. If they do it should be a nice surprise because they made strides. Hubbard and Robinson should be kicked to the curb.

He had $100 million, half a dozen top 100 picks, and still had a lot of talent from 2017 that he, unfortunately, disregarded as " not real football players".

He had a very good foundation and...he frankly has underachieved with what he was given.

I don't think Dorsey did a good job of filling hole last off-season. He shuffled around where the holes were. O-line became a huge hole because Zeitler was traded and Corbett wasn't able to step into the the RG spot, everyone else was suppose to be a backup. I think the tackles were passable last year because they each had a probowl guard next to them.

Dorsey took a solid unit of strong safeties and guys who could be the 5th DB on the field with Peppers, Kindred, and BBC then turned it into a carousel of guys that look like they should bare be 3rd stringers.

Now we are seeing the lack of depth of the D-line. They really didn't have anyone after the 4 starters. Trading Ogbah for Murray is probably the worse trade Dorsey has done.

I'm trying to think of a trade or move that Dorsey made this year that was hands down good. I can't even come up with one. The best thing he might have done all season is lock up Tretter to an extension. Even getting Hunt is questionable because it pushed out Duke and they clearly needed someone in that role for the first half of the season.

Who?

Dude picked a bad coach this past offseason. OBJ has been underwhelming.

In those top 100 picks, Corbett is the only real failure.

The Browns two seasons ago were arguably the worst NFL team of all time.

The piling on Dorsey screams classic miserable Cleveland fan to me.
