2019 CFP Fiesta Bowl | #2 Ohio State vs. #3 Clemson | November 28th, 2019 @ 8 PM EST

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Defense will take a step back next year which sucks. It was the reason we had the upper hand in that game.
Yep.

This was the best team in the country and possibly the best Ohio State team ever. It really sucks we lost due to self-inflicted mistakes and the refs completely fucking us. As heartbreaking of a loss as I can remember, going to take awhile to get over this one.

Replacing Dobbins is obviously the other tough spot. I like Teague alot but he's clearly not the same.

I think Fields will need to step up and have to put the team on his back without Dobbins. While I think Fields might be the most talented and polish QB the Buckeyes have had in recent history, I think he lacks that fire to rally the troops when things aren't going their way. It's something he will have to do to get back to the playoffs and win a national championship. It will be a different team without an experience defense and a RB like Dobbins.

Those 10 yard carries that Trevor Lawrence was getting while taking on linebackers, is stuff that gets an offense fired up. Fields is so well coached for the NFL that he doesn't do crazy things like that. In college I think you need a QB to put their body on the line to fire up their team in big games and especially the playoffs.

Feel badly for Ohio State's players, because they played their asses off. Feel badly for Olave as well. If he didn't break off his route that would've been a touchdown. Just a mistake at a bad time by a very good player. I thought the Buckeyes were completely screwed when they went down 21-16. They showed a a lot of character by coming back and re-taking the lead and getting as close to winning as they did. It's disappointing for them that they couldn't quite pull it off.

I was really hoping the Buckeyes would go for it on that late fourth down.

-Fields' injury
-The committee
-The refs

Regardless of our own mistakes, just so much went wrong for this team that was completely out of their control.

This team deserves to be in New Orleans, playing for a National Championship.

Everything that needed to go wrong for the Buckeyes to lose that game did. In spite of mistakes, questionable calls and officials they still could’ve and probably should have won. I think that’s why this one stings as much as it does. The Buckeyes lost it more than Clemson won it. I still believe that this team is the best in the nation when they play a clean game. Sucks they won’t have a chance to prove it.

I will believe Ohio State was the best team in the country this year for the rest of my life.

This really, really sucks. And I can't even imagine how the players & coaches must feel.

I won't be watching another second of any football until next season. March Madness can't get here sooner.

And with all the stuff that happened:

Some special teamer on Clemson just jaunts down to 5 yard, COMPLETELY oblivious to where the ball is, and lets the ball hit him. Somehow the ball just dies next to him. If takes any sort of bounce whatsoever, OSU recovers and likely wins the game.

That gaff is worse than any of OSU's mistakes, but of course Clemson gets the perfect bounce to keep the game alive. Literally any one of 10 breaks go our way and it's a win.

So one replay official makes the decision on these reviews? Get a few people in there for a game of this magnitude. I'll never believe there was enough evidence to change that fumble. If that happened in the endzone or going to the sideline, they'd rule it a catch all day.

The other thing Clemson will never admit: Yes, theres pressure on them to win eery single game because if they lost in a shitty conference, they dont get in (though...they would have this year so....I dunno about all that), but playing in that shitty ass conference keeps them from killer injuries like the one Fields suffered at the end of the year during OSU gauntlet stretch.

It more the rules that give the leeway to change the game by the replay and refs. NCAA needs to tighten up those rules so the refs cant change momentum of the game.

I've always disliked the targeting rule. It can change the outcome of the game too much. It's just too easy to kick a guy out of a game.

The football move is too vague and it's crazy that a receiver can get one foot in bounds for a catch. While a football move needs to be made in the field of play for a catch and fumble.

The NFL doesn't have a targeting rule for a reason and their football move rule has a much clearer definition.

Anyway, LSU I think should win. For one, they should be the fresher team.

But OSU's wide outs made Clemson's corners look unathletic. They had to grab and hold over and over. They couldn't compete with them in the air.

I think LSU will put up 35 fairly easy. They wont drop the TDs Ohio State did.

Yeah, must be nice having 13 bye weeks before the playoffs.

Yep, hopefully this sparks some conversations about change.

This game was just a nightmare for replay and refs. The targeting, the roughing vs running into punter, the catch/fumble. All monumental calls and they fucked us on each of them.

Game reminded so, so much of the game at home against Texas and vince Young. Ohio State was the superior team the entire night but just could not find a way to make a play when they needed and Texas very best players did.
