Beer snob thread!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Pittsburgh’s got a great beer scene, I hit up Dancing Gnome a few weeks back. Fantastic place.

@Soda, speaking of Voodoo, did you go to Good Vibes this year? I didn’t go last year, but went this year. It was insane, highly recommend if you want to try multiple world class beers from around the country.

Pittsburgh also has one of the most underrated sour breweries on the planet. Strange Roots (used to be Drai Laag) is a step above Jolly Pumpkin in my book, and nobody even knows about them.

I also frequent Grist House for my IPA fix, and this past time I checked out a place called Cinderlands--more of a restaurant that also does beer, but I was really impressed by their beers. Trendy Sour Milkshake IPA's and stuff. Definintely not as good as Hoof Hearted, but better than Platform. I was on my way to the backwoods of PA for a bachelor party and picked up a few of their crowlers for the weekend.

I have been drinking shocktop Belgian white tonight. I'm drunk, but it was hard to get down.

Been really into coffee stouts this winter, ones I would recommend that are available in Ohio:

Bell's Arabicadabra Coffee Milk Stout
Jackie O's Java the Hutt
Masthead Origin Coffee Stout (Cleveland beer company using Cleveland's Six Shooter Coffee)
Stone Coffee Milk Stout

Just had KBS Espresso for the first time the other day. It was pretty good.

Perennial and Prarie have really stepped up their distribution in Ohio. If you can get any stout from either of them, go for it. Barrel-aged Abraxas is still that one beer I haven't been able to ever get my hands on (and I'm sitting just under 2k individual beers checked in on untappd).

Cleveland Beerfest tonight... anyone else going?

@Soda or anyone else in the CLE area going to Masthead today for their anniversary party? About to make the trek from Toledo up there shortly. Then Cavs game tonight.

Let me know and let’s meet up and have a beer!

25 years ago Coffee Stouts were the first micro brews I got into when the trend was new. I got sick of them and moved away from them for years, but starting to get back into them.

Here in Phoenix there is a brewery that has an amazing Coffee Grolsch, If you have a chance, go to Hess brewery.

If you ever get a chance to try any of the special releases of Black Tuesday, go for it. Blueberry Pancake and Spice Islands were two of the better stouts I've ever had, and Grey Monday was arguably the best stout I've ever had.

Apple Brandy Salted Chocolate Dire Wolf from Wolf's Ridge in Columbus is the other stout (besides Grey Monday) that I've given a 5.0 rating on Untappd. I've only given out 9 perfect ratings.

How did you do on Saturday? I walked-out $300 lighter in the wallet, but the timed tappings were great. They threw a hell of a party. BBA Maple Coffee Vanilla Underverse was fantastic & Hollow Earth was a really good, and palatable, triple.

Not sure if you're Ohio or Cali based, but if you're around The Bruery a lot, you should check-out Bottle Logic in Anaheim and Monkish in Torrance.

Does Hollow Earth beat out Dreamcatcher for you? I really wanted to make it down for the party, but wasn’t able too. A buddy of mine was able to grab me a 4 pack of Flat Earth though, I love that beer.

Similar in how palatable it was for being such a heavy hitter. I thought it was markedly better than Flat Earth, which is no small feat. Dreamcatcher seemed to have a quality about it where it almost got better as the hop bite settled (week to few weeks). We'll see if Hollow Earth fares; I plan on having one after work.

Damn, sounds awesome. Dreamcatcher is my favorite triple from them by far, so I’ll have to see if I can track down a can of Hollow Earth. It doesn’t even seem like it’s on draft there anymore unfortunately.

Damn, that went fast then. They usually have stuff on after the parties. Don't know how you feel about stouts, but the BBA Hazelnut Tiramisu Underverse is amongst the best in class around NEOH.
