I mean, I get what ur saying to an extant, but I guess I would see it not as an ego play and more as an eagerness to get started in installing his structure as well as getting to know the guys.He comes across as a Sexton in the coach ranks. Tireless worker and wanted to get at it all the time. Clearly didn’t come close to working or meshing with the team. Sucks we have to this again and again and again!!

At this point just have Love interview his next coach because I think Koby will be looking for the right deal until 2023 when his contract is up.

If Beilein got sideways with Love on day one I think it was up to Bickerstaff to smooth that over. Not sure at this point whether JB would have wanted to do that, though, or just stand by and watch Beilein sink. I wasn't a fan of the Beilein hire and if it happens I won't be a fan of Bickerstaff as head coach, either. Interim? Sure, they really don't have any other option. But start clean with a young guy next year IMO.

It’s pretty sad that, as much as I want the Cavs to get Becky Hammon, i also really don’t want her anywhere near this franchise because it will ruin her. Same with pretty much any young, promising coaching candidate. At least when we destroyed Beilein he was already nearing retirement after a career of success

Pretty much all you can do as a NBA head coach is make suggestions and a little game management. No real coaching.

These same comments were said during the Blatt/Lue era. And people thought it would be different because LeBron wasn't here why?

This is the way the NBA works. Stop trying to reinvent the wheel.

I agree with this 100%, but that is Also why you need two or 3 elite players to win a title. For teams to have a chance sansthat many elite players, it makes sense to build a structure/culture that focuses more on scheme, fundamentals, and personality of player to go along with the first two. But it seems the majority of players and teams are fine with putting on a good show, having decent seasons and getting paid. Nothing more nothing less. The NBA truly seems to come the closes to the WWE than all professional sports leagues in that aspect. Kind of sad really. Think I need to take the approach some here have done and slowly remove myself from being a fan.

Ok, so what did we get for TT?

And what do you think we can get for Love?

It's possible, given we'll likely get nothing for TT, that in the end, we have nothing to show for either. And as a result of just not clearing the deck, we'll have put young players through another coaching change and likely hire a coach with far less pedigree.

I don't understand why we kept guys around, who were completely expendable, who didn't see eye to eye with a coach we brought in to rebuild. It doesn't make any sense and it is something a bad organization would do.

I can't blame the Cavs for not trading Tristan...They tried to get a deal with the Rockets but they gave up their #1 pick in the three way trade.

Now,it makes you wonder if the Clippers or another team tried to get him. I know the Clippers and Rockets wanted him but we'll never know what the Clippers was willing to give up.

First day of practice this year Beilein scheduled a two a day practice. After the first practice Love tells Beilein in front of the whole team that if he wants to have a 2nd practice that was ok but he wasn’t going to be there. How do you coach with something like that? No consequence of course. Lost control on day 1.

This is where Love's professionalism should come into question. He goes to the media acting like he's a professional but continously to shit on his coach whether it be making questionable comments about the coach publicly,pouting like a fucking kid on the court,treating the young players like shit,not playing hard in most cases and possibly making anonymous comments about a coach that's in his first year.

He's a borderline star yet he walks around acting he's the man on the team. He's not even the team's best player.

And,it's funny,how he gets a pass from the media and fans,especially in this city. If,this were Tristan,Sexton or anyone else on the team;people would have told them to shut the hell up and play.

I really don't see how Dan Gilbert gets blamed here. He's not at ALL without fault (over all) but in this specific case? What else could he have done? The Cavs needed to have a real system installed to even think about competing. We'll never see another "Basketball Savior" player in our lifetime. I'd have been happy if we got back to late 80s/early 90s Cavs after winning a title. Basically pre-2019 Raptors.

I still think Beilein was a good pick. He knows basketball. Just guess it wasn't meant to be. Sucks, but damn. One day.

The owner is the person that has final say on everything.

I agree with you about Bickerstaff. He should have pulled Love to the side and told him to shut the fuck up.

“Kevin Porter, his rapid ascent in development has put him squarely in the rotation and even more in terms of what he means to this franchise. Kevin Porter Jr. has been phenomenal,” Altman said. “So we have a 19-year-old that plays a ton of minutes and a starting backcourt at 20 and 21 years old. We knew that there was going to be a level of development and patience that we had to have with that trio.

“But seeing them progress, even in OKC we didn’t win [a 109-103 loss on Wednesday], but we got better. That’s really what this year is about, is seeing how good we can be with those guys and then complementing them with the right pieces and the right veterans.”

To me that’s our success. I didn’t ever want to come into the year putting a win-loss record on it. If we’re engaging the success of those guys, I’m in a good space,” Altman said. “I’m excited about our future because of where they’ve come from day one in terms of first game of the season to where they are now and where they’re going. I think the Andre Drummond piece helps that even more.”

Based on this article from yesterday, it's pretty evident Koby doesn't care about the teams overall record and won't get lost in one result. It's important because GM's always say that but do not stick with it after a couple of brutal results (although the Clippers game was after the article lol). The fact that there have been talks and rumors about moving Sexton lets you know they don't believe in the viability of a small back-court line-up and Koby should stop messing around and do it already because that's all Beilein is waiting on (I think banking on Garland while he's struggling this badly is risky).

This upcoming draft looks incredibly weak so I'm hoping they add a guy who's floor is at least good to great defender with size and athleticism to pair with Garland and Porter. Too many guys on this team look outmatched on a nightly basis. Having to fight uphill from a talent standpoint is hard enough but physical limitations make it nearly impossible. I highly doubt an experienced G-League coach or an in vogue NBA assistant would've made a difference regarding Beilein "learning curve."

FYI Koby has no choice but to say he doesn’t care about winning because he has been GM for almost three years now and has put together a terrible team that has a very hard time winning. He needs to sell everyone on the idea that we are on a ten year plan for relevance if he wants to keep his job

Not a fan of this hire. The biggest key to NBA coaching seems to being able to relate to the players and control the lockerroom. That is hard to translate from the college ranks. The original qualities wanted:
* Cavs connection
* Young coach to grow w/Team
* Analytics driven
* Strong in player development

So, one of those things? And can developing college kids translate at the NBA level?
Feels really "Gilbert-y" so to speak. But I guess time will tell.
Thank you, May 13th, 2019 me.

Also, can we get a mulligan and bring in Sarunas Jasikicius?

Its always been about playing the lottery and hoping young players develop. It always will be.

I don't want to directly respond here but just want to make a general comment.....

Having the highest paid, probably most looked up to player immediately not respect the coach is a problem. Some people are saying that is Belein's problem. Some people are saying that is Love's problem. I think it is entirely besides the point.

If you are starting over and you have deemed someone worthy to usher in a rebuild, the front office has to be on the same page with that person. If they are, someone like Love just gets jettisoned. That is just the reality.

Maybe Belein's style doesn't work, maybe his attitude doesn't work but if you lay a 5 year contract on his desk and a 31 year old vet with a checkered injury history and no real long term future with the team starts acting up, that guy just has to be moved. When a guy like that stays, it's just all bets are off.....the chance of that coach succeeding goes way down IMO. Blatt lost his clash because LeBron was on the other end of the line.......Belein just should not have lost his clash to someone like Love. A good organization just cycles that player out and moves on.....and then there's a closed door meeting saying "This is our coach.....we aren't going to have two a days and tough practices forever but we will have them for some time. If you don't want to be here, go knock on Koby's door and we'll try to send you elsewhere in a trade or release you."

The team owed Belein that IMO.....when they didn't give it to him, I'm sure the locker room went south real quick. When the highest paid player just wants to practice on his own terms and go live his life, that isn't a recipe for success, especially in a rebuilding and player development scenario. Once someone like that tunes a coach out and he's allowed to stay, the coach might as well just go....and that is probably how Belein felt. I can't imagine he didn't constantly ask to cycle those guys out......and if your GM isn't backing you up, just go back to college and make millions of dollars.
