BROWNS OFF-SEASON 2020

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I know his name was mentioned before in here and since Schefter just brought it up again, our name has been linked to a possible Draft Day trade for Ngakoue.

That would easily mean #10 is gone, more assets, + massive money in the future. LT of future is gone unless somehow we trade back up to take one of Jones/Ezra.

Having him on our team opposite of Myles? Fantastic. Should we do it? No.
There is no way an EDGE rusher costs us #10. If that is legit what the Browns give up then I will lose all faith in this front office. It would be sheer idiocy.

There are so many studies both on how: pass rush is overvalued compared to coverage; and offense is more important than defense. I just find it hard to believe that this front office will give up a franchise left tackle for an EDGE.

yeah seriously. Unless we’re getting one of the bosas or Mack we shouldn’t consider trading 10 for a one dimensional DE.

I’m not even sure I would trade 10 for one of those guys...

We need to figure out what we have in Baker. We need to be able to protect him in order to figure that out.

If this report is true, I would be surprised if #10 is involved, or any first-rounder, for that matter. He is looking to sign a long-term deal, which is why the Jags are looking to move him. I can’t see anyone giving up the value of a first rounder on a rookie contract for a guy looking to be paid as one of the top players at his position (which he is definitely not).

A 2nd edge is in no way worth #10. If it was an interior pressure guy, maybe, but not an Edge.

Also, the defense is better off with more solid and not overwhelmingly great players.

You mean a defense is better with 11 solid players than 3 mega stars and 8 poor players right?

Similar to offensive line. Give me 5 solid guys over 3 elite and 2 awful ones.

Yes, sorry should have been more specific.

11 solid players on defense has been shown to be the preferred method of building a defense.

Well, the Steers did have both Clowney and Watt - althought Watt was technically barely outside the top 10- and this was before LOLBrien* had full executive control of the roster.

Of course, it worked fine *until* they had to pay Clowney, and #99 became perpetually injured.

*With all the talk about his DJohnson/Hopkins trade, technically there are still physicals that have to be passed, presumably before the draft, that can't currently be done. Although I'm hearing that Tua has had, and failed, team physicals recently?

Edit, looks like physicals can be coordinated with 3rd party doctors.

Just reading about how incrediballs Clowney is when defending the run makes me want him. I already knew he was excellent at that but it sounds like he's some kind of generational run defender. Imagine his lengthy body flying around horizontally with the speed of a safety and chasing down Lamar Jackson all the time.

I want him because I actually think he's underrated right now. People are lowballing him because his counting stats don't live up to the #1 overall selection. If he's really only getting 2 years, 27 million as offers right now, just get him in here.
