I'm just hoping Baker makes it crystal clear, good or bad, what type of qb he is so we can either move on or extend him with a clear conscious.

Change in coaches every year has obviously taken its toll. Think about when Baker was at his best. When he came in his rookie year he had been minimally exposed to his "coaches" and this culture.

Keeps getting worse the deeper in he gets. Cant think of a single player right now that's come in and exceeded expectations other than maybe Chubb, who we already dont use properly.

Probably fair to say that while retraining him in terms of footwork may have been a good idea in the abstract, adding that extra burden to that of a new coach and new offense during an offseason cut massively short by Covid likely didn't help matters.

The OBJ drop on 3rd and 2 at the Baltimore 23 was an absolute killer. He catches it there is a great chance the Browns cut the gap to a 1 score game entering half

Instead, OBJ drops it, Seibert misses a FG he has to make, and the Ravens march 69 yards for 7. That's a 10+ point swing in 30 seconds and with Baltimore getting the ball to start the 2nd half, the game was well over.

Make no mistake, the Browns don't win yesterday regardless, but they could've been in it for longer.

I’m willing to give Baker more time just because he’s the only hope we have at the moment.

However I just do not see a player so highly gifted and capable of making plays to overcome his physical limitations... Can he for a stretch of time and over a course of a few games ? Sure! But over the course of a season or career ? I simply can’t imagine it happening.

He’s not elusive, he doesn’t have a cannon, the accuracy simply is not there right now— passes are being batted down, being tipped etc.... Understand a coach can put him in a situation to be successful but at this point that seems like more catering to a players needs than finding a running QB in a draft and needing to put him in a certain offense.... Almost worst cause this guy is physically limited....

Can somebody gif that throw Baker sailed to the sidelines intended for Hodge when he was wide open? It was so weird that I initially thought it was a throw away but it was not.

Feels like we're a few games away from either giving Keenum a spot start or seeing if anyone is still willing to give up even a 3rd for Odell. Need to find out which one is the problem. I know it was the Ravens, but there is no reason there should be this little chemistry between them after 17 games. If we're not at least .500 after week 6 at Pittsburgh theres gonna be some tough conversations.

The debate is not between Baker and Odell. The Browns aren't bad because of Odell Beckham Jr. They're bad because their QB is not very good and hasn't been for a while now.

Can we stop pretending that Baker only looks bad targeting Odell? He basically ended Njoku's season last year on a bad pass. He sails balls to the sidelines. He throws Landry into coverage to the point where Landry will get drilled if he catches some of those balls. He lacks touch on too many throws. He has happy feet in the pocket. He locks onto receivers. He always bails to his right.

How did Ward and Takitaki look?

If thats what our number one pick QB is I’d rather go back to the drawing board. Just me tho.

You looking for a generational talent?

Newsflash. There’s only 3 elite QB’s in the league.. odds are we aren’t getting one of them no matter who the fuck we pick next.

What if I told you that you don't have to be elite when you're picked #1 overall but you at least have to be good?

Unless Beckham demands a trade or is causing significant problems in the locker room, trading him makes little sense right now. While he’s had his share of bumps, much of OBJ’s performance is tied to having a competent QB. We also need to remember that he’s coming off of offseason hip surgery so he might not be 100% back yet.

Not to mention, Odell’s stock is pretty much at an all time low right now. Only way it goes up is if he’s healthy and plays well.

I do agree about week 6 or so with Baker. If we make it through week 6 and he hasn’t improved yet, I think you have to seriously consider putting in Keenum. There’s too much talent on the rest of the offense. You can’t scrap a season letting Baker try to figure it out and set the entire offense back when there’s a guy that is at least competent at QB on the roster.

Like we said earlier... He has to get to at least a Kirk Cousins ish level for us to be successful..

It's bonkers to me that today we're putting so much on Baker, when we got absolutely DOMINATED in all 3 facets of the game yesterday...

The defense needs to be taking more slack because they fucking STUNK on the back end.

Oh my god dude. Baker Mayfield was the #1 overall pick in the draft. Stop treating this dude like he was a mid round pick that worked his way into the job. He was handed the job. He didn't have to compete for shit this season. All this crap about a new playbook doesn't seem to bother the offensive line or the running game. Looked good to me. I think the oline was solid. Are they learning a different system than Baker?
