2020-21 Offseason Discussion

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
From Nats talk.com

If my option is not picked up, I don’t know what I will do,” Eaton said with an honest answer as to his future.
“I was thinking about retiring after this year,” Kendrick said at the end of the season. “… I’ve thought about it, but I haven’t really come up with anything. I love baseball. I love the game. That’s one of the toughest decisions you’re ever going to make. Being around these guys playing in D.C., it’s really been a dream come true, and what we accomplished last year, being able to become World Champions, that’s something special. … If this did end up being my last year, I can tell you I really don’t have any regrets.”

I would be operating under the assumption that the Indians won't be signing any free agents this winter. Perhaps they surprise us, and re-sign Cesar Hernandez or sign someone else to replace him at 2B. Other than that, I wouldn't hold your breath on them spending any money in the offseason.

Well moving Lindor, Hand, Santana etc, would put them around 50ish mil depending on how Arbitration and if they keep Perez, Hedges etc as well.

Indians aren't saying they are doing a rebuild but a retool. I expect them to bring in a few veterans to compete with the young guys.

That being stated, I expect less than 10 mil to be available, if that, in free agency. So it more of the, bring in a bunch of minor league invite veterans to compete with the young guys to see what happens.

Are the White Sox seriously going to hire Tony La Russa to be their manager? lmao

I'm assuming we should start hearing options on the Indians today?

Smh he’s not perfect but we don’t have a better option

Regarding move with Brad Hand...... YUCK. Not a fan of the move.
I get the path of avoidance & not getting stuck with the $10M contract yr as no one offers anything of value in trade but the optics of the move completely stink..

SMH

Guys, can we put a zipper on the back and forth sniping about trolling, etc.? If you don't like what someone says, sometimes just ignoring it and moving on is better for everyone involved.

I agree with this move. All of the options should be declined along with booting out some arbitration guys....That being said Hand is a solid player and people have the right to be upset and not be called a troll for saying that.

They have both Emmanuel Clase and James Karinchak as options. The typical trolling you spew in the Browns section won't cut it here.

hardly trolling. It’s a bad move to let him go for nothing without a proven guy ready. Those 2 haven’t proven to be full time closers yet.

Think they missed an opportunity to cash in a bit on Hand at the trade deadline, even more so with this being the plan with him and his buyout all along.

Solid reliever with a cheap buyout would have been perfect to send to another contender. Hand wasn't going to make or break a playoff run for the Indians. Very rare shortsighted move by this front office.
