2020 Trade Deadline Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
A 6th??! What the fuck berry. 2 guys that would have been huge for us.

Would have been nice. Wonder if they were simply just beaten to the punch here.

I dunno -- there wasn't any rush for the Chargers to have finished the trade rather than wait a few hours if they thought there were better offers out there. If King truly was worth more than a 6th, then the entire rest of the league was beaten to the punch.

If nothing else it helps set the price for Berry if he is willing to entertain offers.

Still holding out hope we've been talking to the Vikings about an Anthony Harris rental.

Trading for Alexander AND King for a 5 and a 6 would've been one of the most worthwhile things we could've done.

Those two additions alone probably make this an average defense.

Kwon Alexander has played 19 games in three years, and is in a massive deal for a linebacker who rarely plays.

? and?

What is your point? He helps us now for a $500,000 cap hit this year.

We have the cap space. Tell me how a team like the Saints is able to do this deal, but a team like the Browns with the most space in the NFL can't/shouldn't? It's the NFL. You can always restructure and move around money in the off-season.

This team, which is not advancing passed the first round if they make it, isn’t giving up assets and playing someone who doesn’t play.

The King deal, I’ll totally give you that. But Kon Alexander is almost always injured, and at this point, isn’t worth any cap money. This isn’t a new deal- they’ve shopped him for months.

I personally believe we're a much better team than you give credit for.

We have defensive holes that we can address.. that will make us better. We have one of the best offenses in the NFL as of now. That's not something you just brush off and say ah fuck it this team can't compete.

That's just stupid.

I'm not disagreeing with you, but it's worth noting where the Saints are cap-wise:

Next offseason there is going to be a treasure trove of rich talent in free agency because their teams aren't able to retain them. It's going to be insane how cheap we'll be able to upgrade our positions of need.

When this teams offense routinely puts up points against teams with an above 500 record, I’ll agree with you.

If you project moving forward, and say we go 9-7. You’re likely saying we beat the Texans, Eagles, Giants, and Jets.

That would mean we went 2-6 against likely/potential playoff teams, one of which might win a division with a sub 500 record.

That could sneak us in at the 7th spot, placing us likely in Arrowhead or Heinz. Would you like to explain how how “thinking highly” of this team eliminates the notion that we’re incredibly unlikely to beat either team, and would likely be two score underdogs in both games?

Kwon Alexander doesn’t move this team an inch outside of giving up an asset.

Worth it to note Kwon Alexander restructured his deal in the off-season and most of his money was in a signing bonus.

That said, the Saints are 5-2 and desperate to sneak one more ring onto Brees's finger before he retires. The Browns are in a different position.

We're projected to be 4 million over the cap next year.

I simply don't disagree and actually don't think we're as far off of the two other teams in our division as the two games scores suggested.

We had a snowball of things happen in both of those games. Far from our best play and missing CHubb for the Steelers game. Fake punt, 99 yard TD drive in the Ravens game. Going for it down 17-3 on our own 20 and a pick 6 in the Steelers game.

We will play them MUCH, MUCH better than we showed at home, mark my words on that.

Patience is key to our successfull and sustainable rebuild. This is just year 1 and I do believe this front office understands the value of every single draft pick moving forward.

The Browns have extra late round picks. We absolutely could've been in on one of those deals.
