2020 Trade Deadline Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It depends on what the draft pick is.

Here's what our draft picks look like next season in 2021

1st
2nd
3rd
3rd(Saints)
4th
4th(Eagles)
5th
5th(Rams)
6th
7th(Bills)
7th(Panthers)

Good point, that is allot of picks and you want only so many rookies. Would you trade Njuko and lets say a 5th for someone's 3rd?

What????

What hill??

I'm trying to find the evidence that says Harrison Bryant is a clear upgrade over Njoku. Trade Njoku for a mid round pick and now we're down another pass catcher. Harrison Bryant is a rookie who's barley got his feet wet. Maybe we shouldn't be so quick to get rid of a guy who we probably are going to rely on more now that OBJ is done for the season.

If we can't rely on him to catch a key third down pass that was right on the numbers, I wouldn't rely on him to replace OBJ's production in this offense.

So we have an extra

No. An extra 2rd in 2021 does nothing for us. Njoku is more valuable to the team right now than an extra 3rd in 2021.

My take is we have enough extra picks where we shouldn't be opposed to using one on a player to help right now. Even if it is a rental. That's why you have those extra picks. The Ravens got Calais Campbell for a 5th!!!!!!!!

If The Browns can get a defensive starter for a 3rd-6th round pick then they should strongly consider it. Do people really think that we're going to be bringing in 7 rookies next year to count on to contribute? We're already one of the youngest teams. We can cash a pick or two in for some help right now.

Okay but they guy you said you are ready to give the reigns to fumbled in the same game. And had a drop in each of the least 3 games.

And Njoku isn't supposed to replace OBJ's production. He's out there because he's shown that he is a mismatch in coverage for defenses. With OBJ gone we do not have any other mismatches. Jarvis is not a mismatch for us. Hooper is not a mismatch for us. It's OBJ or Njoku.

Pretty clear the Browns aren’t interested in trading for guys who will take 2-3 weeks to learn the system and then be free agents at the end of the year. If they can grab a defensive piece that has 2021 left on their deal like Rodney Harrison, I’m all for it.

What I see is alot of draft capital if we want to move up to get a player we want. Say the player we want is sitting there at the 11th pick. Trade our 1st ( 20th right now) plus a 3rd and 4rth to go get him. Be aggressive.

Harrison Bryant is a rookie. Hooper has missed 2 games. OBJ is done for the year. Njoku is the only mismatch we have in the passing game. When we trade him for a mid round pick and suddenly can't generate anything in the passing game what are people going to move onto next to complain about?

He's going to be gone after the season anyway unless we overpay him. We'll still have that mid-round pick.

Also, I'd take Bryant as a rookie over Njoku right now anyway. and given that he's a rookie, I'd expect to see more improvement from him moving forward than from Njoku.

ETA: It made sense to keep Njoku in case he had a true break out year, or if Bryant didn't pan out. But given that we just signed Hooper to a $44M contract with $23M guaranteed, it simply doesn't make sense to sign Njoku to the contract he'll demand just to be our No. 2 TE. Bryant is more than capable of filling that role, and potentially growing into more. So bottom line...we can't afford both Hooper and Njoku given what we're going to have to spend on the other side of the ball. If we can get a 3rd for Njoku, and turn that into a safety, LB, or DL, that's just a more efficient use of assets.
