2020 Trade Deadline Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
No one has said that. What people have said is that there's no good reason for this team to mortgage their future for a short-term upgrade on defense.

What do you mean by mortgage the future? Just because people want a trade doesn't mean it has to be an overpay. It's not like we have to trade a 1st round pick no matter who we trade for.

This isn't about just one drop. He doesn't want to be here, he has never been able to consistently catch the ball. It is time to move on. Get yourself a late round pick/lottery ticket and call it a day.

He's not as good as Hooper overall, and he's going to be much more expensive than Harrison. He likely sees that writing on the wall, and I imagine we'd have to overpay for him significantly to get him to stay. He very likely wants to go to a team where he'll be the No. 1 TE -- No. 2 at the absolute worst.

If we can get a 3rd or 4th for him, or a usable player, we should move him before we lose him.

I'd like to think you could flip Njoku for some sort of defensive help. Doesn't have to be insane, but he should be expendable at this point anyway. Doesn't have to be an all-pro, but at this point, anything on the defensive side is a significant upgrade.

To be fair, depending on the cost, it might be worth it since the player might be more likely to sign with us after having played with us. Also, we'd receive a compensatory pick if they walk during the offseason. Pats and Ravens have feasted on these for years.

Not necessarily -- compensatory picks are awarded to teams that lose more in free agency than they sign. So if we lost whomever we traded for, but signed some other guys, we might not get any compensatory pick at all.

I hate the idea of trading Njoku at this point.

One of the only things I actually agree with @Los216 about recently. With Beckham out, Njoku is one of the only playmaker and YAC options we have on the offense with Jarvis..

Hooper and Bryant are just far too similar and Njoku is a much fresher change of pace at the position.

Not in favor of trading Njoku (despite my in-game comment saying... to... trade him). He's one of those guys who if the light comes on (ie, he consistently catches the ball and gets over his injury-prone-ness), he'll be awesome. Hence, if he's cheap to retain, retain him because you're not going to get any real value presently. If the light doesn't come on before his contract is up, then don't re-sign him.

That said, he reminds me of Lawyer Tillman in every way. Whether you remember that name or not, you know how it turned out.

I don't think Njoku wants to play with Baker Mayfield. He hangs his head a lot when Baker throws to him. This is me guessing but I think when Baker hung him out on that play that ended his season last year he was done with him.

King could start for us at a pro bowl level for a decade. I’d give up a 2nd for him no problem.
