No one has said that. What people have said is that there's no good reason for this team to mortgage their future for a short-term upgrade on defense.
This isn't about just one drop. He doesn't want to be here, he has never been able to consistently catch the ball. It is time to move on. Get yourself a late round pick/lottery ticket and call it a day.
To be fair, depending on the cost, it might be worth it since the player might be more likely to sign with us after having played with us. Also, we'd receive a compensatory pick if they walk during the offseason. Pats and Ravens have feasted on these for years.
What do you mean by mortgage the future? Just because people want a trade doesn't mean it has to be an overpay. It's not like we have to trade a 1st round pick no matter who we trade for.
This is not a team that should be trading day one or two picks for guys in contract years.
King could start for us at a pro bowl level for a decade. I’d give up a 2nd for him no problem.
