2020 Trade Deadline Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If berry doesn’t make a move to help the LBs and secondary then he’s failed at his job so far.

:chuckle:

Don't be so dramatic.

There's no player on the market the Browns could realistically acquire that is going to lead them to win more games the rest of this regular season and certainly not win a playoff game.

Reinforcements are going to have to come in the offseason.

But... patience isn't fun. I want instant gratification... or even better, I want our front office to show patience so I can throw a tantrum about how dumb they are!

because he dropped one pass?

get rid of Landry too then.

I've seen this statement enough times today on this board and it's a terrible take.

Landry has a history of being a very good, very consistent player who's playing poorly with injured ribs right now.

David Njoku has a history of being not much more than a huge disappointment while acting like the Browns are the ones holding him back. He's the very definition of looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane.

It's not because he dropped one pass. It's because he fucking sucks.

meanwhile the ravens just got a pro bowl DE a week ago. There’a always moves to be made.

The Ravens have a chance to win the Super Bowl this year.

The Browns do not.

Guys like Desmond King and Anthony Harris are both nice players and would be upgrades over Sendejo in the defensive secondary.

But you know what else they both are? Free agents at the end of the season. The Browns can just sign either one of them outright without giving up any draft assets.

If you want to dump on Andrew Berry for not doing enough with the defense *before* the season, I can accept that.

But Berry is too measured and smart to foolishly try and course correct. There’s no need for him to chase something that isn’t really there just because they’re overachieving record wise.

They’re not a contender this year and Berry knows it.

To be fair, depending on the cost, it might be worth it since the player might be more likely to sign with us after having played with us. Also, we'd receive a compensatory pick if they walk during the offseason. Pats and Ravens have feasted on these for years.

Njoku is who he is. He's capable of big, explosive plays like when he stiff armed that dude's soul from his body yesterday and almost jumped over a defender (and landed on his feet too, albeit out of bounds), and he's a constant red zone threat because if his ability to go up and get the ball (as we saw with his incredible touchdown catch last week.

But he's also got mediocre hands and is occasionally going to have a bad drop, like we saw this week.

I just don't understand how Landry has been skating by despite having multiple horrendous drops this season while Njoku gets murdered for a single one when he made two of the most impressive plays the last two games.

I'm going to preface by saying I rarely watch NFL games in general. In the case of Landry, I'm willing to give him a "shit happens" card from time to time because for the most part, he's been consistent in his career. Njoku has yet to ever show that level of consistency.

No doubt, but Njoku has only played in like four games the past two years so it's hard for me really judge him much based on his performance. Outside of the one drop yesterday I think he's looked good when his number gets called.

Also, people can bitch about the injuries, but he got hurt last year because Mayfield threw a bad pass into double coverage that Njoku had to high point and it got him fucking murdered.

I did watch that pass and I understand completely that was Mayfield's fault. But availability still is an aspect of being a good player.

Perhaps it's just that a lot of Njoku's drops have come at crucial moments, so they get magnified to be bigger than they are.

This isn't about just one drop. He doesn't want to be here, he has never been able to consistently catch the ball. It is time to move on. Get yourself a late round pick/lottery ticket and call it a day.
