Sexton is hard nosed. Garland is a passive wimp. I don’t think sexton is a pg per se. better at the off guard. But garland is not this teams future at pg. he is just soft and small

Garland was aggressive at the beginning of the season but he reverted back to his old self. I'm not trying to kill him because I understand he's young but I wish he had some of that killer instinct that Sexton has..

Last one @"MVP" :

We drafted Chucky Brown.

Known to preteen Richfld for 2 things.

1. His rookie card was in every other pack of my favorite basketball cards of all time '90-91 Hoops. I'm not kidding, if I go out to my garage and take my cards out, I have 4 of these in my book with all the Hoops 90-91's. I couldnt open a pack without seeing this damn card :chuckle:

2. The running joke on every broadcast through the 90's was that Chucky Brown played for every NBA team in the country over the course of his career. If I was watching a game, and Chucky went to the scorers table, one of the announcers were going to make fun of him for redefining the term "journey man". If you look up journey man in NBA Dictionary, you're going to see that damn 90-91 Chucky Brown Hoops rookie card

I feel Joe Smith might be able to out Journey Man Chucky.

JBB after the win at Houston, commenting on Sexton:

He was not going to let us lose,” Bickerstaff said. “They have some good individual defenders and they switch with length and it turns into where you have to beat your man. Collin has the ability to beat his man. He was awesome for us tonight. He played with a purpose. He fought through a lot of contact and physicality. He didn’t let it deter him. He got busted in the mouth, got stitches, came right back in and went back to work... when he plays this way, it makes everybody else’s job easier and he makes everybody else better because so much focus and attention goes to him. He is a weapon.”

I think we can forget about any scenarios where Sexton gets traded or turned into a sixth man.

I feel like Sexton doesn’t need a pick and he can beat his defender 1 on 1 to the basket. Number of times he accomplished that today — he is just very quick to the basket. When he was making shots he extended to be more aggressive by taking 3s and converted. I also liked some of his passes to Allen and McGee as well.

Liked how Sexton played last night v Houston, he picked his spots early on and was willing to move the ball consistently, he got iso's like he does, but by and large he didn't have the tunnel vision that sometimes plagues his game. Add when they needed a late push, he was able to go get some points which he does real well.
Rockets may be the worst team in the NBA right now. They look like a hot mess.None of those guys looked like they wanted to be out there.

I think that's the next step Sexton needs to take on offense...imo

While,he can make the three-point shot, he needs to take more but efficiently. I don't want him chucking it like Trae Young.

Bickerstaff didn’t see anything too unusual about Sexton’s game against Denver. It was just a really bad night. But the two discussed different scenarios, defensive coverages and how Sexton could vary his approach.

Unfiltered, Bickerstaff also spoke with Sexton about his importance and the kind of player he needs to be for the Cavs to perform at their best.

Since then, Sexton’s been different. He’s scored at least 20 points in all nine games, punctuating an impressive two-week reversal with a 39-point outburst against the Houston Rockets Monday night, leading the Cavs to a 100-91 win and their first four-game winning streak since the 2017-18 season.

“I don’t want to take any credit for it,” Bickerstaff told cleveland.com. “He has made a choice and he puts in the work. He has dove into the team and growing the team. He’s doing whatever it takes to help us win.”

Sexton admitted he’s watched that Denver game about four or five times, recognizing the assortment of ways they guarded him. Then other teams started copying. With Sexton playing out of the pick-and-roll so frequently, he saw ICE or Down coverage -- the on-ball defender forcing him to the sideline, away from the screen in the middle of the floor. He saw Show coverage -- defenders stringing him out for a few dribbles before recovering to the original screener. He saw blitzes -- multiple defenders looking to take the ball out of his hands. There were some instances of opponents going under screens, but not as many as earlier in his career -- oftentimes signaling a lack of respect for a player’s outside shot.

That's the kind of thing that can't be taught -- it's just part of who he is, and why it is so dangerous to trade him in light of some perceived ceiling.

I wouldn't say that about Wall, until we shut his ass down.

the exact same reason why i think guys who says "sexton doesn't rotate the ball" or "tunnel vision" will be proven wrong. there are several articles already about sexton's patience to watch game film. that is a discipline a lot of players don't have. i'm not going to be surprised if sexton develops into something like a chauncy billups play maker.

Did Kyle Lowry "just have it"? Well, it doesn't seem like it.

I used to think Sexton had very little feel, but he does have a roomba like quality where he bounces around and learns the room finally. He's methodical and knows what to work on

funny... i was thinking lowry too as a comparison to sexton's development trajectory. plus, lowry had to lose to lebron all those years until he finally figured out how not to fade in the playoffs and become a champion.

sexton is actually much more advanced in the development curve if you just compare year by year between sexton and lowry. there are several other humps sexton needs to get over, but it looks like he's getting over those humps at a very accelerated rate.
