2021 NFL Draft: Day 1

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Im curious, what situations would 7 DBs be on the field?
I believe that in some 3rd and 8 or longer, you could see the 4 man DL, a LB, Delpit in a hybrid LB role, Ward and Newsome on the outsides, Hill in the slot, Johnson and Harrison at Safety.

Oops, I meant 6, not 7. Good catch

Why are we worried about Greedy again?

He was a 2nd rounder from a former regime and has shown nothing other than injury problems in the NFL. He's easily the expendable one in this situation

I think you look at anything he gives you as a bonus. If he comes back and plays well, that's awesome. But you plan as if that doesn't happen.

Right.

And let's be honest, the NFL is about having almost 4 good corners anymore. So no worries.

There will be times the Browns roll with 4 corners, 2 corners, 2 safeties or 3. Woods has the tools to do it all now.

I will say, the way the board is setting up, I don't think the Browns go EDGE tomorrow unless it's Milton. Maybe roll with Weaver as the development guy and try again next year. I think 59/2nd pick is going to be WR.

I hope it's Rondale. Young, explosiveness, fast, hard to tackle.

It feels amazing to have the Steelers pick an RB before us with no line, while we stand pat and take an elite athlete with good tape at one of the highest impact positions on the field. Will it work for us? Who knows, and that's part of the appeal of the draft. But the process behind those decisions is excellent and I'll roll with that every time.

Honestly, both the Steelers and Ravens passing on Teven Jenkins makes me as happy as our pick.

That man is a mean motherfucker who seems tailor-made for the AFC North. I'd love to see him go somewhere outside our division. Makes things easier on our defense.

I expect the Browns to play a lot of 4-2-5 and 4-1-6. But the main thing is they have a ton of options now.

The linebacker group can play situationally, with Walker as the MIKE and Takitaki, Phillips and Smith out there based on matchups and formations.

You can get Ward-Hill-Newsome and Harrison-Delpit-Johnson all on the field at the same time pretty easily.

Anything Greedy gives you at this point is a bonus, which is a great place to be.

Secondary is loaded and set up well to play 4-2-5 or even some 4-1-6.
Woods wants to play a dime (4-1-6) 35% of the time, so its not "some". All the secondary picks added including our 1st rd pick make a ton of sense when you realize that.

Troy Hill likely starts in two CB sets, and kicks inside on 3 CB sets...

Greedy still has to prove he's healthy so I'd lean Newsome at this point..

Not only do the Browns have some top end DB talent they also have depth: Ward, Hill, Newsome, Williams, Johnson, Delpit and Harrison.. That's 7 deep right there with more to be added in this draft and some holdovers from last year like MJ Stewart and Sheldrick Redwine..
When you call Redwine a hold over, you mean hold him over Lake Erie to dump him off the team right?

This year is really put up or shut up for Woods. We were awful last year with ill-fitting personnel to his schemes, but there's really no excuse now. This team is built in the image of what a good analytical defense should be for today's NFL.
