Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Why does it matter? He pointed out we aren't scoring runs despite the good power numbers. You used a different stat to show the same thing.
If the goal is to talk about run production, the number of games played matters.

Saying we're X position in the league, but not also saying that we have the fewest number of games played, is pretty misleading.

When we have the choice, we shouldn't be intentionally misleading.

This is a giant nothing burger and comes off as more like trying to score points against another poster, calling him lazy and what not.

We aren't scoring runs like we should be. End of story.

I'd say the same about you making this into a big deal, or some personal vendetta. Certainly seems like you're "trying to score points against another poster" by turning a pretty fundamental, inarguable point into whatever this crap is.

There's a giant difference between "calling him lazy," and saying "I can't think of a single reason besides either laziness or being intentionally misleading."

Can you come up with another reason?

If I did the same thing (used a raw number like runs that is lazy at best, or intentionally misleading at worst), I'd hope that someone else would feel comfortable enough to call me on it so I could check myself and improve.

I suppose a genuine mistake in selection of stat, or lack of understanding in the moment with the differences in the raw total v per/game are possibilities too. No doubt, the per game stat is a better reflection of our offense.

Are you Canadian or something, eh?! Are hosers allowed on here?

Since when is asking for accurate information considered pompous or an attack?

Back to baseball. Here are the 5 worst pitchers on our team in order:

1. Plesac
2. Allen
3. Civale
4. Bieber
5. McKenzie

These bums have given up more runs than anyone on the team by a long shot!

Out of the Rafters is perfectly within his rights to point out my discrepancies, although they were certainly not misleading, nor were they intended to be misleading.

So, I will help him out a bit.

He is right that the simple runs total does not paint a specific picture...but neither do the simple HR, Triple, Double totals. They would also be higher if shown on a per game basis.

In other words, using either the simple or per game numbers for everything, leads to the exact same conclusion.

In math terms, four can be the difference six and two, or it can be the difference between ten and six.

Either way, its still four....and just as accurate.

Hope that helps.

It's honestly a good point.

Those other stats, like XBH/game, would require manual calculation and aren't just easily available off the first team statistics site you come across., so I wouldn't think twice about someone not using them. But, those would all be higher if expressed as a per game rate.

Sandlin and Nelson are holding at Zero runs allowed....Nelson seems pretty safe to stay in the lead for a while.
