The argument for improving the team through trades is that the Indians are 6-5 against the White Sox, who have the best record in the A.L. However, the Tribe is 1-3 against the Yankees and Mariners.
Also, the White Sox have played the easiest schedule in baseball with the exception of the Twins so they may not be as good as their record. However, they will be getting Eloy Jimenez and Luis Robert back at some point which will give them an awesome batting order.
The Indians will be getting Reyes, Plesac, Luplow, and Berto back and if Eddie and Cesar start hitting more like their normal selves the offense could be all right, especially if Jose gets going. McKenzie, Quantrill, and Mejia have all looked very encouraging in their last starts. It's possible we could have five strong starters going into the second half.
If we find solid starters for the #4 and #5 spots and if the hitting picks up a little I could see the front office going after a first baseman or outfielder like Mitch Haniger.
