I'm locking this for 15 minutes before it goes completely off the rails because I cannot afford to spend another day with this forum being my primary job. When it is unlocked, follow the rules.

1) Do not go down the "true fan" route and berate anyone who has a different opinion about the name change. That will get you a vacation, which is something I imagine would be unpleasant given the upcoming NBA draft.

2) I am going to open up a "venting" thread. The thread will be for fans who didn't want the name to be changed at all. It is NOT for other fans to go into that thread to tell people why they are wrong not to like the name change. That will get you bounced as well. If you don't want to vent, and just want to tell others why they are wrong to have wanted the name to stay the same...don't go in there. That thread will be locked and it's contents deleted in two days. It's to give people a place to vent, not to start arguments between those who wanted a name change, and those who didn't.

At the same time, don't use this thread to rant about ending the Indians/Tribe names. You're getting your own thread in which to do that.

3) If enough people can't follow the rules in both threads, then I'll lock them both.

Is there an official logo/jersey/etc yet someone can share?

I’m cool with the name. But honestly I would have done this in like a Georgetown Hoyas color scheme… Would have completely disassociated with the red…

Yeah, I had a real-life issue that came up. But...now it's opened. I'll start the vent thread as well.

If changing the name/logo ends the curse and keeps the team in Cleveland, they could have literally called them anything. Will say that 'G' logo looks like something you'd see from a Kalamazoo, Michigan Single-A team though. Tragic.

I’m just happy they picked something and we can move on.

I really like the whole package. My only grip is to replace the baseball in the winged G logo with a stylized guardian face. Then everything would be nearly perfect.

I'm curious if the team shop will have merch at the game tonight.

One more indication that the team is staying in Cleveland and any move is off the table. You don't name a team with specificity to that city and then move them to another city.

I was not a 'Guardians' supporter.....but I like the font, I like the imagery, I can live with the name.

Far and away the choice of favor when they polled fans, current players, former players, league execs, and local officials. #2 wasn't even close, and the initial focus groups they brought in had a wide range of potential names and even asked for suggestions just to see what various groups had in mind.

Once it was whittled down to a few names and they created logos/colorways/fonts and those groups were brought back in to see the concepts it was over and the choice was made easy for them.

Me personally, little generic, but a chance to create something unique in the sports world.

Also, for those who have been following the last few years...this is one of the Dolan's steps...
