I’ve seen the movie more times than I care to count and never once noticed the statue.

I’m honestly intrigued by this phenomenon that they stick out so much to some people and are so forgettable for others.
 
I was definitely pro-Spiders, but independent of branding, I always liked the art deco Guardian statues (unlike @Derek , I had a tshirt with the image years ago :cool: )....not sure this is a great choice for nickname, etc. , but obviously I will be rooting for my team as much as ever....I will likely be purchasing new apparel, too.

Now, I really do want the "Guardian styled" batting helmets!

Tom Hanks and The Black Keys have nothing to do with Cleveland. Shows how out of touch this entire thing is. Will support the team from CA, but this is depressing.
 
I get Arena Football League Vibes with the name. Don't have a better alternative. Was partial to Spiders, but felt it was just best of the bad. Was hoping the marketing firm they most likely paid millions for would have gotten creative.
 
Seems like the owners are so cheap, they chose a name that allowed them to use their same uniforms and signs…

“Hey, remove that I and N, and throw a GUAR up there…”

now we can just call them the ‘Dians
